The Paint I use for fuel proofing is simple airplane dope. I order it from Sig. Poly is not fuel proof at all, neither is any kind of water base that I know of with the exception of the stuff that nelson hobbies sells, its the same as warbird colors products. It is a waterbase boat paint, works ok but does not stick well at all, but is fuel proof to at least 15% nitro.
Dope is the easy thing IMO.. plus it lasts for years.

"neither is any kind of water base that "
My last test of Behr water base clear polyeurathane was impervious to 15% nitro. I soaked a sample patch until the fuel evaporated, and it never touched it.

My tests of systems three with cross linker with 30% car fuel showed it to be solid as a rock and soaked into the latex flat, the bonding was fantastic.
Not sure what kind or how you are applying the Water based Poly Chip, but it's proven to me it be the way to go these days,,, If I brought dope into the house my wife would kill me.
You result may vary

In my view, there's lots of mis-information, here.
WBC is not fuel proof. Nelsons, is. This means the paints are not the same.
My WBC painted Stuka, and Nelsons painted Spacewalker II, have had no adhesion problems. Both have been painted for years.
Poor surface preparation will result in adhesion problems. It's not always the paint's fault.

Found some century 21 spraypaint in one of my closets the other day, forgotI had it. I think I bought it about 20 years ago. Last used it on a goldberg 300 I used to have.
