what 4wd monster trucks/buggies are there now?
g'day all, been out of the hobbie for about 4 year's, last time round the only decent 1:5th scale car's were the HPI baja and FG 2wd monster truck and buggy.
wondering what's happened in terms of four wheel drive trucks/buggies sicne i was last here? i'm intersted in getting back into it.
i recently found the CEN matrix 5MT and matrix 5 T (monster truck and truggy respectivly) for sale for under $1000 AUS on www.*********.com.au
how poorly, or well made are these? what else is there regardless of cost?

not many mt's left out there it seems,
HSP redcat mt and xt, (also himoto)
nutech mmt, (smartech, vvt, punisher)
mcd ev03 mt
fg 2wd and 4wd mt
kaylee
hurrax yuckon is discontinued
there are a couple others like sy etc that are not even worth the postage
it seems mt's have given way to track buggies and sc's
losi 5
hurrax
ferox
elcon
fg
mcd
hormann
contrast
to name but a few
prices range from 550-3000 and you usually get what you pay for

howdy, unless you go with the losi 5t, you will need parts support for anything else you considered, I have the cen 5t, which by the way has good parts support down under, I got mine brand new (ebay) for 400.00$$ u.s., of course, there will be parts needed after a coupla runs, which I considered even before purchase, (tuned pipe, steel gears, I/O wheel bearings............ ) these items will give you an edge in the preventative maint. dept. wheel adaptors sooner or later down the road also, so figure an extra 200-300 to have a reliable, beat the crap outta truck, the servos are ok,some give out sooner than others, but if you go with good servos, they will last you providing you set them up correctly, don't pay retail for any truck, that'll kill any sense of fun........and enthusiasim, as for the other brands mentioned, I cannot say as I don't own any of em, but for what I got in my cen 5t, I'm a happy basher... good luck... i'm actually looking at a few secondhand RC's that already have the upgrades i'll need with them (tuned pipes, servo's, and commonly broken spare parts), purely for the reason you said (after sales part's availability and aftermarket support) i've crossed a few of the cheaper options off the list already.
cheer's for your input mate

I would stay away from the CENS they are just a mildly improved fs and if there $1000 well f' me thats not far of getting an MCD MT which is a 1000 times better. Have a look at the mcdracing.com website theres an mcd going at there its got me thinking about a buildup.
