I'm seriously considering this as my next scale airplane.
Based on all the great inputs from the pilots it would make sense that Skymaster keeps the prospective customer informed of any new improvements.
I wish the other company would do that. But as they say their loss is your gain.
Thanks

Alex thanks for the heads up on the addendum. When are you getting yours? I look forward to your build threads. It would be nice to have someone do a side by side comparison to the two different thrust settings. Two planes one pilot. Maybe you can run that across Ali. [8D]

I think I may have gotten to the bottom of my flame out issues.. Thanks to Barry at King tech as he spent loads of time with me going through everything. Turns out that the long fuel lines ( From fuel tank to hopper which was under the canopy and then back to turbine again ) were causing higher than normal PW ( Running pump voltages ) I moved the CAT and the fuel pump to the turbine bay area which drastically reduced the length of the fuel runs and almost halved the pump voltages. So far so good. I even had time to set up the I gyro. As great a flying plane as the 104 was without the Gyro... its twice as great with it. Yesterday was quite gusty ( 12 kts from across the runway ) and the I gyro really showed its value in flight, but especially on landing! Wow.
I am also very glad that I had Alex install my Fly Eagle light set. The last flight was at about 8.30 pm and it was getting a tad dark! Thanks to Barry Wong for the photo, and fingers crossed that the gremlins are now out of the 104's system.
Regards Al

Glad its all sorted Ali
Just to clarify for people building their 104's the pump/CAT were originally at the back of the forward fuselage section so just inline with the intakes. This gave a long run to the turbine but wasn't that far from the tank. We've built models with long pump to turbine runs before like the A10 which was almost twice as long. The main difference is those turbines were 140's, its clear that the 190 and 180 pumps just couldn't cope with that length of run. Live and learn....
Cheers, Alex

Hi Geoff
I really enjoyed seeing your 104 in action today at MF, and am in awe of the way you make landing it so precisely look so easy. Now that you've got the handling sorted and the conventional landings hacked, maybe you'd like to think about this variation

i install my UAT in the nose to most of my models and never had a problem.
I use the bigger ID tygon tube from tanks to UAT .
And IMHO the most important ,my fuel vents looks forward so the extra pressure helps the fuel system.
Any other position and the venturi effect will make things worse ...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venturi_effect
Awesome looking model Ali!

Hi, yes we've never experienced any issues in the past but it appears this one did. All the tubing was large bore and it had a large vent.
All sorted now at any rate

Jorg,
That photo of the F-104 going straight up into the air, looks rather odd - full flaps and wheels extended. Is it an optical illusion?
Nice jet though, especially cleaned up and banking on it's side like that.
Cheers,
Jan

Hi,
last Saturday, Roland and myself attend at a small Jet meeting in Bavaria. I saw his new F 104 the first time live, wow, what a nice plane.
He flew it nice and smooth and especially the landings looked so nice.
Here is a small report with lots of pics, including some nice shots from the F104.
