Hey, Whos calling my L59 a pile of Junk, lol ,As for P20 reliability, first ones had preload problems on the bearings but that was sorted long ago .not really heard any other problems ,so long as you change the starter o ring now and againand check the fuel filter,They run brilliant

Chris

Have you had problems with your starter O ring and filter?

I have had an airframe idea for P20 and possibly larger turbines too but need some help, its radical and very neat, need a 'partner' who fancies a project and has access to CAD and a good accurate CNC machine.....

I wonder if you could scale up an autocad file and make a p20 size model using a 3d printer. I'm still looking into it.

Mike, I found after a while the starter gets noisy so I just replace the O ring, this solves it , Also find the proper Jetcat FOD Guard helps to support the starter mount as its a bit bendy.and I clean out the jetcat fuel filter now and again as its surprising how much s**t it collects and that's with filtered fuel carrier.Chris

These small engines have super thin injectors and are extra sensitive to dirt... so filter, filter and filter :-)

Probably quicker like this:

calculator, pencil, ruler, flexicurve & paper -> balsa & ply -> 1/2 oz glass/epoxy or film

My first P-20 had a 25+hour service last year...till then 2 starter O rings and a few glow plugs...Never cleaned a filter on the model...ever. If the fuel is properly filtered and tank clean to start, there cannot be an issue!

Gordon I've sold a lot of P-20's...problems other than user induced, very very few.

I use a Mr Funnel filter on my fuel into a bowser, a pleated paper filter in the bowser and inline filter out of the bowser into the tank via a filter and a pleated paper filter in the tank, the tank supplies the turbine through a jetcat P20 filter, never had to clean any of them, and never had to change the O ring either.

We'll probably fly the Viperjet and the Yak 130 at Jetpower this year Then you will have a chance to check the convertion kits out too.

I wish there were more sport flying models that work well on short grass fields.

Dont know exactly what you want but the ready2fly Venom is agreat performer even at a rough airfield. I fly it with Kolibri power, but I know several guys doing it with a P20 too :-)

What did you do for the exhaust?

Either use a thrust tube or the dedicated convertion kit. With my engine choice 5.4lb of dry weight, with a P20 about 6.6lb dry. There is a thread on it here. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_10..._1/key_/tm.htm
