The 150 should be good for scale flying, mine has a saito 182 twin and does huge loops..did'nt have to put any lead in the nose

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft
Hi all. I don't know what to do. I need some help. I have a taylorcraft and a black horse 1.20 pitts special. I have three engines, two dle 20's and a dle 30.
My problem is that i don't know if i must use the dle 30 in one of the planes(which one????)
Or must i use the dle 20 for each plane???
Please help.

There's plenty of room in the T-craft for a DLE 30. It's what I have in mine with a factory muffler. It would fly fine with the 20, however. Decide which plane you would have more fun with in an over-powered state, and put the 30 in that one. Have fun!

I think i will use the two dle 20's in these planes. Don't want to fly on 1/4 throttle the whole time with a dle 30.

I don't think the taylorcraft needs the 30cc. I think dle 20 should be fine for scale flying. Don't want to prop hang lol.

The Taylorcraft Bind and fly version comes with a G26 so the DLE 30 would be a nice motor of it however it would fly with the DLE 20 too .. The 20 is a powerfull little motor .. It depends what you want to do with your planes .. If you want to have a hot rod then you put the biggest motor in that one . Bi planes have more drag so would benefit from having a little more power. If it was me I would use the DLE 30 in the Taylorcraft , and I would use the DLE20 in the Pitts ..

Yes 30cc. But 4 stroke and won't have the power of the dle 30 and it will sound better and fit better

To the fellah from Greece that wanted a few pictures of Harold Hansons real Taylorcraft. This is the plane Hangar 9 used as a model about 11-12 years ago for the model (sorry I misplaced your name and email address).

I don't think i have seen anyone here fit one.As i said mine has a 182 which don't help.I've fitted and flown the 125 saito inverted in a mates tcraft and it flew very well and scale like power. With the 180 you are going to have a lot of fun.

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft
Hi Guys,
Been quiet on this site for a little while so I thought I'd spice things up with a couple of ideas.
First I'm thinking of fitting my Saito 50cc Radial R325 to my Taylorcraft, just for something a little different..!...
And / Or fitting a trike under carriage.
Here are a few ideas......

RE: It's here and Looks GOOD new Hangar 9 Taylorcraft
The changes would be pretty simple I think, unscrew the tail wheel... (Duh..).. Then cut an angle on the rudder so it doesn't strike the ground on landing.
The main change is to remove the main gear and reverse the fixing, plus move it back at least 40mm (1 3/4") behing where it's screwed to the bottom of the fuse now. It could be a simple matter of using the existing main gear and reversing it and fitting it to another aluminium plate then fixing that into the existing holes, or else reinforce the region behind the existing landing gear section.
The thinking behind this is the Piper Tri pacer which was a development of the Piper Pacer, which started life as a Taylorcraft... ( I know it's not strictly true, Taylor was head designer at Piper and the 2 planes were built along similar lines... one had a falling out... Worth reading about, the point is the aircraft are not that different).
The front bulkhead where the engine attaches is solid enough to fix a nose gear and have a separate servo to steer or have a connection under the floor from the rudder servo....

ORIGINAL: Old Fart
Would it be easier to fit the r325 radial to a cessna 195? instead of butchering a beautiful taylorcraft?

I agree. Tearing up the Taylorcraft to fit a radial ???
This Aero Works Cessna 195 would be the perfect candidate for a big radial. http://www.aero-works.net/store/detail.aspx?ID=396
I think I'll be getting one. Not powering it with a radial, but a 30-40 size gasser.

I just got one of these BNF new in the box. Is the upper rear struts breaking and fix in post 464 the only issue? By the way BNF is not really bind n fly but it is nice to have all the parts in one box.

From all the comments i've read here and my own experience flying mine it's best just to stick whatever engine you like in it and fly.Very responsive to control movements and graceful to watch in the air.
