Mine used to drop a wing in tight turns...it was the crappy "CA-hinges".
I glued the stuff together without a hinge gap and that meant one of the stabs was actually flexing under the power of the servo...it gave me a couple of scares until I figured it out. You know: low on the deck, roll fast, yank hard, and then it wants to roll into the ground...

Between 3 of us we had 2 Magnums, 3 Outlaws, a DD, and a 61. Shrike today... Best radar reading was the DD at 160, one Magnum did 146, the other met a tree... I'm sure there were faster runs but the cheap gun wouldn't pick up the plane 2/3rds of the time. Yesterday it wouldn't pick up my new pylon racer at all...

Have a really dumb question. What have you guys used to add weight for wing balancing on a thin Magnum type wing? I see the typical lead stick on weights are just too bulky for this.

I think you can still get them from overseas, they aren't available except on the bay here anymore. I bought two when they were purging the stock. Both had a bunch of shipping damage but were ok for repair work.
Keep an eye and they show up once in a while for around $100.

Ahh, two corrections in a single day. Anyone want to go for the trifecta?
My Mag rebuild project is coming along nicely. All the sanding is done and I'm mounting the guts getting ready to cover most likely by the weekend. 165+ is the target.

I think a Nelson or MB .40 could get a Magnum closer to 200 than Sessholvlaru's 195 mph results with a Nelson Q40 & stock muffler. It would be quite a job to make it all fit in there without making it look like a real "hack job"...but that's why us autistic types enjoy the creative aspects of this hobby.

In excess of 200!
In excess of 200!
The only time they go in excess of 200 is on the cargo plane that ships them overseas. I can't remember, maybe someone made that wisecrack already.
"Now with the same color and trim scheme as every other Magnum you've seen in the last 5 years! Plus, high-visibility checkered film that looks grey at a distance, and trim that peels off after only a few flights! Features truly ballistic glide performance."
Alright lay off.. They're good fun. I just can't stand blatant BS in ad copy.

Regardless of what Mike is saying, the Magnum is one of those bucket list models every speed freak wants to have owned at least once.
Honestly after you fly one a half dozen times it gets a little boring. It isn't like a race plane where you are competing with other pilots and trying to fly the perfect line.
The Mag just blows loud holes in the sky. Oh yeah and my favorite part, it makes the coolest air noise of any model out there.

There is no denying the market appeal. And I had some fun with mine, although like you say Vic after a few flights it is more of the same. It's the model that you fly whenever your buddies say "fly it again!".
