Yeah I have a block under the plane to keep the stabs off the floor of the trailer. However in the mishap, thel live hinges on the stab and flap already delaminated and needed to be glued back so thy are extra strong now.

Probably best for you to wade through the posts instead of starting the discussion all over again. Basically, the manual CG is fine (look back a couple pages for Dave's picture of where he likes the CG) and crow/no crow will never be resolved - it's all pilot preference.

I did not intend to offend you, but yes, this is a very UF friendly forum. You will find the jet community UF experts (I'm not one of them) following this thread. But, if every new UF owner asked the same questions, the thread would become repetitive and lose its vitality. So, I ask you to use "Search this thread" for CG where you will find 4 pages of posts and "Search this thread" for crow and you will find 5 pages of posts. Best of luck with your UF.

Well 2 flights on the flash today in 20mph cross winds and it lands just fine. 3.5" flap and 3/16 crow was night and day over the 4" flap setup. Very predictable now.

The guy I got it from drew black circles on the bottom. With mine on the balancer centered on those holes, it fell just s
Ightlybowardsvthe nose. However it fell towards the canopy when inverted so its still nose heavy. Needs a TON on down elevator when you drop the flaps with these settings.

Yep i backed off a little on my full flaps too...Same on the ultra lightning....Would come in with less throttle and was able to hold the nose off much better...My opinion its the best sport jet in its size class anywhere...

It's not a night and day improvement like it is with the Classic but it's a definite improvement. Personally, I can see no good reason NOT to use it: the slight aileron uprig WILL further prevent tip stalls in the slow flight regime. That can only be a good thing.

As the UF is such a popular model this topic on flap settings/crow etc is going to go on and on.
I have found the UF the most pleasant of my jets to land so far.I have posted my settings on this thread before but here they are again and in my opinion are just perfect.
All measurements at tip.
Take off Flap 27mm ( - 1mm down elevator mix)
Landing Flap 75mm ( -5mm down elevator mix)
Crow on full FLap + 6mm
+ 1mm up trim on elevator for normal flight.
CG 232mm from LE cut line (tanks empty,ATU full,wheels down)
I found operating manual travel settings for aileron too powerfull so reduced to;
Ailerons +9mm/-10mm (up/down) 40% expo.
Rudder 45mm each way (40% expo)
Elevator +10mm/-11mm (40% expo)
If you go with these setting you cant go wrong and will have a very pleasant and easy model to fly.

The center of that circle is at around 230mm from the wing's LE (fuse joint line) which is what I though you had. again, Thanks!

Every one of these settings is within a gnat's ***** of where my Ultra currently flies. Wonderfully I might add.

Just a small update after checking my 18MZ expo settings.
On elevator I have reduced expo on take off flap to -25% and down to -20% on full flap as I find this gives a more linear feel to the elevator on final approach and flair.
I use 3 flight conditions so this is very easy to do.

Hi,
So just to confirm, is everyone balancing with the model upright? I always balanced it upside down with the gear up. I was thinking of moving my cg back a bit but wanted to make sure were all on the same page as far as how were balancing it

By the way, mine is balance in the same place as it was. So the landing characterics were only changed by by reducing flap and adding crow. Put 9 flights on it the past 2 days. I have some video I will post.

Me too! 10 gallons burned through it and 14 flights. A couple quick clips off the Tv in the hotel. Will post some better video later. Fast pass and a landing. No one could believe it only had 22lbs in it. She moves pretty good. No need for more in my opinion.

Hey Dave, I don't remember where it was in this thread, but I remember you siliconing the wire that connects to the steering bolts on the nose strut. I'm guessing they can rotate & hinder operation if not siliconed? Do you always do this, or only if a problem exist?

Yes, with the gear down I silicon around the wire and steering posts. When the gear retracts the wires stay inline with the pin and like this I don't need bands or springs. They form a 'wave pattern'
If you look at the bottom shots of my model, you can see perfect dear operation as no scuffs [8D]
