That why I was planning for a big engine to help that. I think someone here in the thread said it: if you have to add weight to the front, why not make it in the form of horsepower. I might have to be diligent with throttle managament but I think it will still be fun.

Hi Mike,

My Giant Tele is powered by a Zenoah G62 ( about 3.8 hp) and has heaps of power for this model. It flies quite happily at 1/2 to 3/4 throttle. I chose this engine for 2 reasons firstly it is heavy and as edmoor says these models all turn out to be tail heavy. I found that by using the Zenoah and by carefully placing the flight packs etc , I didn't have to add any weight to the nose at all to get it to balance.
Secondly the Zenoah is a magneto ignition and while others don't like this preferring electronic ignition, I've not had a problem and it eliminates another battery and the potential for failure.
A disadvantage though of the bigger single cylinder engines is vibration so your choice of a twim which should be much smoother is a good one. As to the CRRC I have no experience of them at all but form what I can see at 5.6 hp you will have oodles of power but you will find that at its lighter weight you may have to add up to about about 13 oz of lead to the nose . This isn't a problem and the model can more than take it and may be a reasonable trade off to get the smoother effect.
Do take careful note though of all the cooments in the thread about the weakness of the single wing strut and either double up as I and others have done or modify the build to add a wing tube joiner or both.

I have a question for you teley experts here. Has anyone ever built a giant teley without any dihedral? The reason I ask is because I am trying to engineer a double wing tube in mine. And it would be easier without dihedral in the wing. Thanks.

Mine is built with dihedral as per the plan. I can't see any reason that it wouldn't work as a straight wing as a couple of large models that I also have don't have any and fly well. One is a Decathalon and the other a 1/4 scale Piper J3 Cub. When you compare the Tele and the Cub they are very similar in fuselage profile, short nose moment, etc.

Why don't you send your query to Hobby Lobby as it would be a pity to build it with a straight wing and then find it was a problem.

Mike just one other thing to keep in mind. I don't know how experienced you are as a flyer but the Tele ( with dihedral) flies or rather turns much better with rudder mixed with aileron. Without dihedral this will probably be more so. Certainly with the Cub the mix is about 30%.

Volarino, Descriptions of an aircraft are always from the Pilots seat.

However, right thrust would be pointing left when viewed from the front. We already have the language barrier, lets not make things more complicated

I recently bought a 12' Telemaster built in the 80's from an 80's kit and it has struts between the vertical and horizontal stabilizer. I haven't seen this detail on any other large Telemaster. Anyone else do this or feel its necessary? I ask because I was flying it yesterday for only the second time and these broke free at the horizontal stabilizer. They did some damage to the covering as they were vibrating around. It doesn't look like they were anchored well.

The plane only has about 5 flights on it (2 by me and 3 by the person I bought it from) and the previous owner told me he had similar problems with the struts. The original owner/builder never flew it and only sold it a couple years ago to the person I bought it from.

The struts are also rigid instead of wires as I've seen on planes like a cub.

- If someone can explain an easy way to post an image Iwill. Seems hard here.

The usual thing is to use the cable type system because of that vibration problem. Sullivan or Dubro make these, and likely some others. Or you can use heavy fishing leader and make up your own.
