ys fz 63 break in
I am new to the YS engines, I have several Saito's like them very much.
BUT I have two new Ys engines to break in, a fz63s and a fz120.
I want to start with the 63 as I am getting a plane ready for it. Its a funtana S 40 , what prop , fuel etc. I have the instructions , but would look forward to any advice.

RE: ys fz 63 break in
can't belive I will be left in the dark ( been there a lot in my life ). this is a great forum and has provided a lot of help in the past.
I general break in with castrol oil fuel, but some have said 15% Nito seny would be alright for break in. I have some 15 %nitro and could add some caster oil to it, but that would drop the nitro by volum?

I'm always in the dark too.....small world.
To begin with I would not suggest using 15% nitro until you become very adept at tuning a YS. The nitro is an oxidizer and higher nitro content gives you a wider sweet spot for tuning, which is something you definitely want since you are new to YS and breaking in the engine and it is going to drift a bit in tune anyway. Get yourself a good known brand of YS 20/20 mix fuel or use what a LOT of guys swear by which is the Cool Power 30% heli fuel. Get a spare YS #4 or OS type F plug or two in the event you have a plug go south on you. Trust me when I tell you using any other plug will ruin your day....I learned that the hard way.
Prop, an APC 13x6 would suit you well for break in and general flying. Then just follow the directions. If you have any other questions post them here. If someone does not get your question answered just PM me and I'll make time to get you answered. but there are a bunch of good guys who answer questions here and I am VERY happy to have them here to help.

yes, went there and printed it looks very good.
when they are talking about max rpm of 10,500 to 11,500 , is that on the ground? I generaly set my saito's to about 1K under max so that they can unload in the air and still be under max.
thanks for the info.

yes, I have got that idea, 1 K is too much.
I have the 30% cool power heli fuel, I was going to bench run it. But have changed my mind, and will break it in the air a little rich.
thanks again for all the help, this is a nice engine and I want to do well with it.
