now that it is the building time of the year.......... i swear i will assemble all the planes in my basement before i buy a bunch more!!! i have had this bird for three years now, so it will be next. i have alwas enjoyed these H9 war birds. i am going with then saito 100, hitec servos, and the stock landing gear. OK, so you can say i am boring, but i think i will like this bird alot this way. Happy flying, capt

I know thisthread has been around a long time, but i would like to add my name to the hundreds of pilots that have had a successful maiden of their P-47. My airplane has been converted to electric and flys great, only a few clicks of down elevator.Looking forward to my first war bird event..

Hi, I wonder if I can help, I want to do a query. I have a P-47 .60 Top Flite and just buy a motor OS FS 110 that I like to put a muffler Keleo brand. I have visited your website and I can not tell which is the right muffler for the OS FS 110. I could tell which one is right?

They do offer them for the .91 & 120 so just determine which has the same thread size on the exhaust as the 110

ok... i hope I'm doing this right..
I've been reading this thread and some items are pretty consistent... universally those in the know say to move the tail servos up to the receiver area and re-inforcing the firewall..
I may have gone overboard after reading a thread on using epoxy on the firewall (to add strength). I layed a sheet of 3oz fiberglass and used 30min epoxy (about 2oz) thinned with a faint amount of 70% rubbing alchohol (less than a tea spoon). and soaked the cloth and layed it out inside the firewall... I also put some scrap ply in those weird cutouts from the factory. did I screw it up? Am I ordering a new fuselage? (please say no).
with this much added weight strengthening the firewall for the YS f120 I'm worried I'm going to be super nose heavy. what do you think... wait to move the servos or am I on the right track?

I used a SAITO 125 and kept the servos in the stock location. I still had to move the battery backwards to reach the correct CG.

to say i'm struggling would be an understatement.. I'm about ready to switch to electric.. (that should kill my ever wanting to fly this plane). This YS F120 had been very reliable in the Zen 120 it was in... very easy to start and pulled like a clydesdale.
I think what I'm experiencing is called "syphoning". It's obvious the centerline of the tank is higher than the carb when the plane is upright... during startup fuel literally pours out of the exhaust header. is there a do-hickey to introduce that would prevent that or will i actaully have to modify the airframe/fuselage?

update.. the YS 120 is off to get rebuilt by gents far smarter than i... in the short term i maidened my Jugg with a Scorpion 3540-330 on 6S & Ice lite 100 with an 15.5 X 12.5 4 blade APC... max speed about 65MPH... she flew super easy...
I've gone ahead and bought a CC Ice 100 to run 8s on the same motor and prop... details on that flight later this week.

Setup: Scorpion 4035-330. HV Ice 100. 15.5X12.5 4blade APC. Dual 4s 5000MAh
She was over 100MPH easy. I was pulling away from a pogo. I had accelerating vertical (unlimited)
She pulls left on take off and the stock retracts don't suffer drifting well. Lots o' right rudder
If she were a little bigger she'd be my favorite plane of all time. Gonna buy her her Wingspan retracts to do her justice!

I am finishing up an electric conversion of this bird with an e-flite power 60 outrunner, cc ice lite 75 amp ESC, cc 10 amp bec, and using a 6s 4000mah lipo. It came out very tail heavy even with elec components on the forward firewall and the lipo all the way forward inside. So now I am looking at moving the tail servos inside the fuselage closer to the 4.5" COG. A few good posts here showing the fuselage servo area which is wide open, but would appreciate a few pics/advice on how to secure the long pushrods internally mid-fuse and at tail exit. Especially tail exit. Also...did you use flex, semi-flex, or rigid long pushrods. Looks like a near straight run except for tail exit ! Anyone experience tail feather flutter after doing this? Did you do double elevator pushrods or stay single and let the manufacturers elev conncting rod do its job ?

I can't understand why you're so tail heavy... I ran essentially the same setup and had to shift my main pack back towards the wing... My plane failed in the end due to elevator flutter... If the intent is to go really fast do what you can to make the elevator very strong. I've seen a setup where the two servos in teh back were dedicated to the elevator and the rudder ran a dubro flex (the red and yellow one) all teh way to the front.
good luck.. that jugg is a great flyer.. great looks... still the one I miss the most.

Thanks for the feedback Sparky! I'm surprised its so tail heavy too. You have given me some food for thought tho. I have 2 other 60 size Black Horse warbird electric conversions (T28 and P51) and they use two separate elev pushrods all the way back to a single fuselage servo with a 3 way splitter. And another rudder/tail wheel rod on another fuselage servo. I might copy that formula as those two birds fly amazing, with no tail feather flutter at all. Just gotta find out who sells that 3 way pushrod splitter.
