Mine was two plywood pieces cut to the shape of the round f-16 body with pipe foam insulation connected with two long 2x4s. Some even do a three ply version.

This is the stand I use for one of my jets. Its made from 1/2 inch pvc tubing with pipe insulation covering the parts that touch the jet. Its cheap, tough, light and easy to make.

Here is one of the stands that we put together. Most of the stand was purchased through Summit Racing and just the top part that cradles the planes was added by welding it together and unto the stands adjustable center post. This is height adjustable.

Pm Stratotanker here on RCC. He makes custom laser cut stands that are awesome for transporting jets. Not a work stand though.

I just started using these and have kicked myself for not seeking them out from day one. By far the most simple, stable, adjustable, economical and portable stands.

I'm with you on that, I have three of them and they do the job a treat, have adjustable height and fold up neatly when not in use. I usually take one to the field with me to set up my planes on.
