Yea Disco, I lost one.
Want to hear all the details?
On second thought never mind, why dirty up a positive thread about an outstanding event hosted by and participated by some of the most gracious people I've ever met.
Best regards
Bob

RE: 2013 First In Flight Jet Rallly! May 22-26
Now that a few days have passed, our friends have made it home safely, and the Photo's are getting posted, I just wanted to jump in and and comment on a few things.
First, we can't thank everyone enough for the outstanding turn out ( over 100 pilots), the awesome show you put on for the public, and the true proffesionalism all of you displayed throughout the event. Yes,,,, we had a ton of rain hit us yet again before the event causing some parking issues, but that didnt stop anyone from keeping the skies full of planes and the crowds entertained. We were able to fly, and fly a lot all five days of the event. Everyone kept this event a true pilots event with no politics. Just FUN and fellowship. We saw every brand of radio, airframes, and power plants performing at FIF and all of them were well represented
Again, we want to thank all of our sponsors for stepping up to the plate to make FIF that much better.BVM, FEJ. Jet Central. Vogelsang Aeroscale. Jersey Modeler. Jackie Sacks. Dreamworks, RC Jet Addiction. Global Jets Club. And of course, the City of Wilson.
Also want to thank those who worked so hard setting up and running this years event. Some of those include the Tarheel Flyers, Greenville Flying Pirates,Raleigh Durham Radio Control, Gene Paremba, and Joe Rafalowski. These guys were at it early Monday morning battleing rain and wind to get the field set up.
BVM donated one of their awesome new Electra's for this years raffle. Bob has been a big supporter of FIF from the first ever event, and continues to work with us to make each FIF a big success. This was Bob's second time donating one of his awesome aircraft and we truly appreciate his kindness. Add this to Jersey Modelers 5 Gal Fueler unit and Global Jet Clubs $500 gift certificate and we had a great list of items on the raffle table.
Then we had another great company step up to the plate with a surprise donation. Fly Eagle Jet along with Nirly Built donated one of their Pro-built 2m Vipers to the list and that was used for a live auction! Talk about a beautiful plane. As you might guess, this created a very fun time at the live auction on Saturday night. For the first time ever, I had the chance to put my ratchet jaw skills to the test as an Auctioneer! As time went on we boiled it down to a couple of fierce bidders going at it toe to toe. A lot of fun indeed!
Something new to this years event was the Saturday Night BBQ. This turned out to be a great addition to FIF. With more than 140 people attending, it provided a great opportunity for everyone to just relax, knock back some NC BBQ, and reflect on the weeks activities. We followed up dinner with the raffle, auction, and then finished up the evening with the awards ceremony. Plans for next years BBQ were being made to take place in a private hanger located opposite the FBO office, but after talking with many pilots we have determined the large city hanger worked out great. We were surrounded by model jets and a beautiful full scale Stinson Voyager as a back drop. So,,,,,,, being this IS a pilots event, and the pilots liked this years setting,,,,, We'll stick with the same set up for next year.
CHANGES TO NEXT YEARS EVENT
We always ask you guys, "What would YOU like to see change for next year?" And we have always tried to accommodate request if it works best for everyone. THEE #1 request this year was to extent flying hours. Not that 7AM to 7Pm isnt a lot, but this time of year in NC you can easily see your plane up until 8:30 or a little later. So,,,,,,, We'll be going to the Wilson City leaders soon to request a 14+ hour time frame for next year!!!! I would be surprised if they said no
Also something that came up this year was the possibility of adding raised walk paths to the tents. As it turned out, the City of Wilson was already looking into that. I spoke with city officials on site during the event and we think we have an easy solution to the water problem. But jusssst in case. I have another plan. We'll be purchasing twice the amount of hay prior to next years event. With my luck, Im sure to get stuck with 100+ bails of un-needed hay on the trailer!!! We'll chock it up as cheap insurance!!! lol
All in all it was a fantastic event. I'm sure we'll be getting more feedback and pilot's comments here and by e-mail in weeks to come. We look forward to it. Should be seeing more pics soon, and we'll be getting more info posted on the winners at this years awards ceremony.
