Don had built many many jets for me. Unfortunately his eyes are failing him now and he has stopped building. It is a sad day for me as he was one of the last great builders around. I hope some new young blood will take up the builder bug and teach real building to their sons and daughters. One day there will be nothing but arfs and that will be a sad day

This China Lake Yellow Twin was one of Don's last builds

Don inspired me to build and finish better, and taught me "You can't have too many rivets!!". Guys like Don, Mike Kulzek, and the late, great Tom Sewell were the artists in the bunch.

Thanks Don for setting the bar so high!!

Sincerely,
Jack Holland

100% agree with you. I know how much he loved building. It must be real hard for him.

The mains are being produced now. I am in the design stage, but by the end of next week I should have pics of the mains. Kevin has one of the main gear pieces. Hopefully he can get the mains painted and put on for bomber this weekend.

Hi Kevin . I am going to order the Hornet this week and was wondering if I can contact you as to how to get this mod to the gear. It makes the plane look so much better.

Thanks Peter Woo

Here is the main gear mock up so far. (these pieces are not meant to look pretty, just help me fit parts). The big strut rod is next, that connects to the pieces I made on the front side of the gear.

So are the mods using plastic parts? I have a Tam hornet that have just a bit smaller gear then Yellows but would love to do a mod like this, it does look real nice.

Yes, parts are plastic. Inside diameter could be mdified by me pretty easily.

Brian is doing great work on these gear details, and other details as well for his personal Yellow F-18. he is quite a craftsman. once that sucker is done i think it will be a masterpiece. he is designing these parts and mostly printing them in ABS on his 3D printer. how cool is that!
