Poor mans warbird - YAK50
The Yak 50 is known as the poor mans warbird and the UK designer 'Wiiliswarbirds' has taken this on to add to his growing fleet of designs.
My Yak is now ready to test fly and is the 5th one to be produced so far. See www.williswarbirds.co.uk to see all the details
I'm trying to upload pics but alas no joy [:@]

as I understand it, it was used as a military trainer for several countries.. that would qualify it to be a warbird from what I understand.. I would suppose it is no different than the AT-6/SNJ-4 in that aspect....

Finally got images to load at a decent size.
Here are the 2 new ones that were test flown yesterday. Mine is the read and white one. They fly superb and have stacks of power with a G62 up front

I agree the Chinese and Vietmanese used them and locally build derivities as training / advanced trainers in their military arms.
If a Piper Cub can be painted green and called an L4 then it too is a Warbird is it not?
Even the De-Havilland Puss Moth can be classed a warbird as the RAF took over a few examples during WWII.

There is a team (full size) that display them in the UK and Chris Willis of WillisWarbirds decided it would make an easy to build easy to fly model to add to his growing collection of warbird designs. He was right. It fly's really well
