Default Mato Sherman metal upgrade

Recently Ive upgraded my Mato Sherman with some metal parts ordered from Dominique from www.rctank.de
Ive used also an Elmod electronics with Benedini TBS Mini sound with big Visaton speaker. Now the tank is running very smooth and sounding great.

- metal Mato wheels upgrade
http://www.rctank.de/product_info.ph...oducts_id=1520

- HL metal tracks and sprockets with idlers
http://www.rctank.de/product_info.ph...oducts_id=1976

- HL metal 4:1 "black" gearboxes
http://www.rctank.de/product_info.ph...oducts_id=1974

Standard HL 4:1 gearboxes was too wide for Mato Sherman hull so I've changed original motors with motors taken from Mato 5:1 metal gearboxes:

Those gearboxes in my opinion are the best on the market, I have 3 sets now and they are TOUGH. Excellent bearings. They look great in your Mato Sherman.

Are the metal tracks double-pinned? I've never actually seen a set of the HL metal ones.. I have a Sherman as well and that looks tempting :P

Not trying to be a rivet counter here because I like the work you have done, but can the gearboxes be elevated somewhat more? The profile of the drive sprockets is wrong and are too low causing the track to have an angle downwards.

Is there room for them to be mounted higher? I hope so... I have a Mato Sherman I need gearboxes for.

Yes I think is it possible to place gearboxes a litle higher but holes in lower hull for drive shafts should be moved too.

I was using original Mato Sherman holes in lower hull in addition track support in metal Mato road wheels are a bit higher than in original plastic ones so the efect is bigger - this problem is seen in original Mato Sherman too (but its smaller)

I moved sprocket wheels about 5mm up - Is it now correct?

Yes I agree - in my opinion they are for example better than Waltersons gearboxes

Sorry my English is not good: what its mean "double pinned"?
In those HL Sherman metal tracks each link have one removable and one closed pin

We have a few Waltersons here at out club but I've never owned a set, but they do look nice. Great idea with the 3 different pinion gears & gear pulling tool.

You got the double pinned idea right :P That's exactly what I meant. The plastic tracks are the same... apparently it's not a big deal, but just a matter of scale accuracy :P

The HL tracks are single pinned.

Wow - it looks a LOT better with the raised drive sprocket! If you have seen the difference between an unmodified turret, and one that has been lowered; you might decide that it is worth doing as well. Here is a link to the mod:

Other than that, it is a great-looking build! -Mike

Got to agree with Mike. The turret mod has got to be one of the best mods you can do to improve the looks of the Mato Sherman.
Here's a pic of my Mato/Tamiya hybrid, you can see the turret sits much lower

That looks great! Did you raise up the entire gearbox? I hope it still has good internal room on top.

Thats one slick lookingEasy"8". I'm a little curious as to those gear boxes. has anyone been able to verify the actuall reduction on these?
4:1 is starting to get pretty low on the gearing side of things, great for torque but got to be slow as heck.

Yes , I raised the whole gearboxes - after this there is minimal room at the top - about 4-5 mm - but its enough

I haven't any recoil as she's running std Tamiya Sherman electrics, but there is a lot of room in the Mato turret so it would be possible
