RE: Painting & weathering with laxex paint
I only use latex paints and never have runs. How in the world are you having runs ? How thick are you spraying? My mix is windshield washer fluid from the 99 cents store and floetrol with a HF Mini detail gun. The trick is to not let the paint flow get to the point to when it hit the surface it is shiny or looks wet. It should look dull. If it looks wet lessen the paint flow.

I have been using Hobbypoxy paints over the past 40 years and have just stated using latex paint. I had no problems getting fine lines and weathering with the Hobbypoxy but I 'mhaving problems with the latex. I ordered a top feed airbrush and hope this will stop the splatter and running problems. I'll try to show some of my models to get an opinion on my weathering. Some of my friends say my planes look like they should be in a junkyard.

RE: Painting & weathering with laxex paint
I am not getting runs while painting large areas using the larger paint tips on my airbrush. The problem comes in when I use the fine tip to get a fine line where the colors meet. Either the paint spatters when it is thinned the normal mixture or I thin it more to get fine spray and it runs. I have ordered a top feed airbrush so the normal paint mixture will work. I feel that with fine tip the paint cannot be drawn up from the paint cup. I use the exact procedure that 91zulu mentions. The TPGS Corsair (number 24) was the first plane I used latex on and it worked well, but I did not have to do a fine line between colors. I hate the look some models have that mask between the colors. I want the soft look between each color as the real plane had. I'm posting some other photos to so my weathering.
