SYSSA 30CC GAS MADE IN USA

RE: SYSSA 30CC GAS MADE IN USA
Holy cow, I just noticed that the pictures I uploaded will open now, same thing with all the pictures in my gallery. Maybe RCU does have a programmer working to fix things. I thought that was just a myth.

RE: SYSSA 30CC GAS MADE IN USA
I have great success with either the Falcon 18 x 6 or the Vess 18.5 x 5.5 on an extreme flight extra 78 which is on the light side. I mostly prefer the 18 x 6 since the 18.5 x 5.5 is a touch noisy for some of my colleagues! However, I'm just about to fit a Falcon CF 18 x 6.5 - will post my impressions here. The engine has just been "reconditioned" by Todd with some V2 parts within.

2 things come to mind.
Good sport performance generally requires pretty good vertical performance? That generally requires props with no more than 10" of pitch max. Generally less.
This engine really likes to run in it's upper rpm ranges to make max thrust. Maybe turning something in the neighborhood of 8500 - 8800 on the ground (once broken in a little)?
I run an APC 18x6W on mine, which has worked out pretty well - but it's 13+lbs. too. Listening to it unload in the air is a LOT like hearing an old .60 size pattern plane fly! Todd special ordered those 18.5x5.5 props for 3D work on a 10lb plane. That should give you an idea regarding props that work well?
Your 18x8 should work ok on a fairly light plane, especially a cleaner design. The others have way more pitch than anything I would ever use - unless you were talking military style flying. -Al

Guys, I have an SAP180 I'd like to sell. Great engine, terrific field manners, but it's just collecting dust right now. Engine is fully broken in, has about 10 gallons gas through it. No muffler tho; I'll make a good dealfor someone. Contact me direct at my address below. Thanks

I don't know about a V2 version, but I just had my SAP 180 upgraded with a new carb and the new muffler. Turnaround was rapid and the cost was only parts and shipping. At one time this was one of the first motors that were produced, but it has been upgraded to current standards. Last year my carb started acting funny and I replaced internal gaskets and diaphragms to no avail. That was after several years of flying and many gallons of fuel. The motor had been in 2 airframes during that period. It will be back in the air soon -

Can you guys recommend a prop for my Syssa on my Venus II. I am currently running a 15.5 x 12 pattern prop. The speed is great but the vertical performance is lacking. Is the general rule to go up and diameter one inch and down in pitch one inch to get the same loading.
Anyone running a 10 pitch prop? What diameter? 8 pitch prop and what diameter?

I use that rule to put myself in the ball park too. I'm running an 18x6 on a fairly heavy plane and getting pretty good performance (the engines loves rpm's!). So using that rule and going down in diameter, you would get 17x8, 16x10, then 15x12? So a little less diameter would let you keep that pitch, but from a vertical performance standpoint, the 16x10 might work better?

RE: SYSSA 30CC GAS MADE IN USA
Am I the only one that cannot get in touch with Mr. Syssa? I got him on the phone the middle of last month and talked to him about the SAP 180 that I recently purchased used. He told me to ship it to him, and he'll go over it and check it out. I shipped it Priority Mail, and it was delivered to his address May 17th. No engine, nor have I been able to reach Todd via phone or email since that time. I also know of a club member that has been wanting to order a couple of battery eliminators from him, but also cannot get in touch with Todd. Does anyone know anything? I'm starting to get worried about the engine I sent him. I need it now, plus I cannot afford to just lose it.
I just went to his website and found that orders aren't being taken online either. Great! :-(
Well, Todd just showed back up. After asking what was up with Todd, I come home today to find my engine came back today. Todd, I apologize for all the fretting.
Thanks!

It's funny sometimes he must get really busy and looses track of things but he always come three. I've been watching this thread since it started and people think he fell off the earth and he shows back up.

That's nice....when do you think I can expect the v2 engine that I ordered LAST OCTOBER [:@][:@]
I've gotten him on the phone a few times, most recently back in April (I think). "Oh...the cylinder linings...blah blah...waiting on new this...blah blah....it should be a few weeks" It seems like each time I start getting angry about it, that's when I get him on the phone, and he's so nice, he always talks me down, but at this point, it's really getting old (no pun intended). I don't want to settle for the old version (which he's offered to send instead), but it's just ridiculous at this point. I know from others he's not going to refund my $$, so I just sit & wait.
I guess it could be worse, as I would have gone with the Mintor or the early-gen Pterydactyl 36 (seriously)

I can understand what you are saying but on Todd's defense I wouldn't want to send you an engine that's just thrown together and hope it works then get bashed on these forums because of that.

If anyone is experiencing out of stock delays from Syssa for the Tech-Aero Designs Ultra IBEC, rest assured that they are always in stock and available from the Tech-Aero Designs website.
