well maybe it could run the home generator in case of a power outage on 2nd thought the whole block martin

It looks like they are turning the governor on and off. Note that when the RPM drops down all cylinders fire to bring the RPM back up. After it gets within a certain range it uses only one or two cylinders to maintain speed. Great running old diesel!
