Zoroli 87" stearman Robart landing gear mount?
Hi, I'm a little confused about how to install the landing gear on a ziroli 87" Steaman. The instuctions say to bolt it on to lg1 the landing gear block. The problem I see is that once you bolt it on, there is another piece that gets glued on right in front of the bolts. How am I supposed access the bolts to take the landing gear mounts on and off? If someone has pictures or can sketch something up for me, I would love to figure this out. Please help me out with some ideas.
Thanks David

RE: Zoroli 87
Also, for anyone who has built this plane, what is the purpose behind having the little LG 2 piece. Is that to give the landing gear mount more strength?

Only the designer would know for sure. One could guess at a lot of things, non of which might be what he was really intending. I could be positioning, it could be to give the screws more support, etc, etc, etc,.

I was just wondering because the instructions say don't glue it in. I was wondering if that had something to do with how the landing gear is supposed to be removed

Yay, I was just holding some things together for the picture mainly to try and figure out how to get around to the mounting bolts once that fs3 plywood piece is glued in right in front of them.

David,
I framed one of these up a number of years ago and did a thread, may be able to do a search. I had resided to the fact that the gear were going to be permanently mounted to the fuse. You are going to have to sheet all around the gear legs and build some fairings to make it look scale.
Just looked and saw you have been in my thread. You will see in the pics I had to notch the F3 piece to go around the gear leg. This requires the gear to be installed permanently to the fuse. I suggest bolting them in good and solid and forge ahead. The gear are stout and if you do anything to damage the gear in a bad landing you are going to rip them out of the fuse anyhow. Add plenty of bracing to the joints all around that area for strength.
Later!!
