Kyle,
Thanks for the info. I just got one from him but thought it was a little pricey. I was hoping to find a cheaper source for a second one.

RE: Propjet, mig 27 target drone
Thanks!
Well first thing is CG, what have you found to be a good starting point?
Also looking for any construction tips.
Ideas on the installing the landing gear other basic construction tips.
Love to have a manual/directions to learn from. Do you know if there is anything out there?
Also I would like to see a few videos &/or pictures.
Only found two videos on YOUTUBE on this model flying.
I will appreciate any help you can offer.
I am not a beginer, but a novice +. Been building and flying for 5+ years so i have some know how.
Finishing up with my first Air Retract system on a Seagul Dual Ace & looking foward to working on the Drone next.

RE: Propjet, mig 27 target drone
Greetings toAll and WOWAM I Impressed!!!
I was given this link from a fellow rc chat-member andI am glad to see somany people using this plane. I have been in the hobby for about 30 years and about 25 years ago I bought and flew one of these and was the center of attention at the field. I bought it from the Connecticut Rams show and remember it had the aluminum Spars, Side mounted Motor, Venetian blind plastc ailerons, I do remeber landing gear but not sure if i modified the kit myself. I vagely remember gluing a plywood plate under the belly to screw the main gear to. I dont remember the nose wheel setup. The fuel tank was also side mounted and exposed and tie wrapped to the fuse. I used a OS 61 gold head motor which barely pulled it.
The loops and rolls were a breathtaking feat with such minimal power. The greatest part of owning one were the takeoffs offs and landings. The plane would lean back on the mains for most of the runwaythen gently leave the ground. The landings were the same, reclining on approach and holding the nose up on the mains for most of the runway until gently rotating the nose down to finish the landing. No plane I ever had did that so effortlessly. I painted it fuel proof camo and may find a pic if im lucky. if so I will post it.
Of all the planes ibuilt and flew, this onestill brings people over to me from so long ago saying" remember that flogger you had??"
Enjoy the season !!

RE: Propjet, mig 27 target drone
i and a few other folks at the field have these mig drones and have found that the best way to paint them is either use kilz primer and then spray paint only problem is the paint will get gooy after exhaust oil gets on it. or a oil base paint that can be brushed on, then sand with 320 grit when dry to get the brush lines out. oil base paints wont be affected by oil from exhaust. or you can use oracover with low heat.
these migs can still be found on ebay!

Bruce,
Do you still have the flying FQM-117B?
I would be interested if you still do. I do not have much to trade but I am sure we can find something that would make both of us happy.
Thanks
Nic

available cheap for pick up in MN
but shipping costs too much.

I don't think there is any creature that would get hungry enough to eat that crappy foam the drones are made out of,

Everything you wanted to know about the Goldberg Version of the FQM-117B can be found here. http://www.tpub.com/content/operator...14-P/index.htm
Wow, thanks for posting that!
I picked up a Pristine one at Joe Nall over a year ago........ it still had the servos and Nicads in it....
I am trying to find out what the true paint scheme the military actually used looked like.

30+ Year Anniversary of the Prop Jet Mig 27
I have placed some video links and some historical images for the FQM-117B , RS Systems original Mig 27 target on RC Groups. Some years ago I posted some of this information in this RCUniverse thread, most of the new information has not been posted before. The first video link is of some flying I did last year with the last Mig I have. The airplane is stock with the exception of the landing gear and modern radio equipment. It also has the only clear canopy I ever made for these as a demo for the commercial version of the 117B. RS made about 5,000 of these all blue foam versions. The second video is from a live fire excercise that Art Pesch (also involved extensivley in the Goldberg FQM117B-1 program) and I did in 1987.
