Default PCM 512 to 2.4 convesion

Hi.

I know this is a very common conversation, but I already "dig" in the net but can not find nothing for my radio.
I have a FUTABA FP-8SGHP 512 PCM and I would like to know if it´s possible to convert to 2.4 and how??

Many thanks.

André

If it has a module and is capable of PPM (FM) then it can be converted.

Mike.

The FP-8SSGHPis a pre 1991 unit and no current PPM or 2.4Ghz module will fit the 10 pin layout.
Futaba - Compatibility - Interchange of Modules between 8U, 9C, 9Z , 12Z& 14MZ
However, there are one or two Chinese manufacturers who supply a "package" which may fit inside,
beside the newTX-R Transmitter Ready 2.4GHz system.
. AnyLink enables your transmitter to send out a true, 2.4GHz signal
"and operate with all of the interference-free dependability of a frequency-hopping, spread-spectrum system. "
FP-8SGHP set to PPM will enable this to work through trainer socket and permit use with all the TXR planes
including those to be released by other manufactures, including Hitec RCD, with the open source SLT, [FAQ]

You can gut a TM-8 module and convert it to FASST if you want. Requires some minor wiring expertise. Works through the trainer output. Probably not legal.

The 8SG transmitter did not have a trainer output, nor were you able to choose PPM transmission. It was PCM512 only. We do not believe you can successfully convert this transmitter to 2.4 GHz operation.

Not true. Even if you have to strip out the electronics and need to replace the pots you still save the sticks and the case.

Like what was said in another thread, if you are able to trace the PPM signal and solder a wire on the board to pull the signal. Plug and go will not happen.

I don´t have the "machinery" required to trace the PPM signal.....

What part of Bax's post don't folks understand[:@]
The radio in question does not have a trainer port for the simple reason there is no PPM signal available in the radio to feed to a trainer port
These radios where PCM only.

Trace the main board... Always could go Microstar conversion.

An Idea:

Get a spare 512 receiver and take out the decoder board. Run the 512 modulation in the transmitter through the decoder and produce the PWM outputs. Putting the outputs into a PWM frame is now trivial for a EE tinkerer. Hack a TM-8 module and you have FASST.

PCM 512 was extremely slow. This is the reason that I skipped it and waited for 1024. But only you know why you want to save this transmitter. A neat MicroStar conversion would make more sense and already mentioned above.

That may be a good idea, but the problem is , I´m not very good whit electronics....I only want to save the radio beacause its nice and in the old times never fail, and now I have a lot more planes and a extra radio is always good.

Pickup a used 9c and convert it using the corona unit you have.
