Can shampoo bottles be used as kero tanks? Or just pop bottles?
Well I spent a few hours with good old google and still can't get a straight answer. Can someone please help with the above question. The reason for the shampoo bottle is the shape. It's pretty much perfect for what I'm looking to do but it won't be any good if the kero just destroys the bottle.
Sorry guys I truly tried to search for this but had no luck at all.

I used a shampoo bottle inside the drop tank on my Top Gun Interceptor many years ago.
I found that a large Pert Plus shampoo bottle was the perfect fit inside a BVM F-16 centerline drop tank, and it gave me an extra 28 ounces (or so) extra fuel for my very thirsty FD3-67.

The best shaped bottle was the one from tiki torch fuel ,best shape for falcon 120 and 3 sizes to find 50oz 64oz and I think 108oz the bottle is strong and tested for kerosine ,don't use the cup for the plumbing just do the opening on the bottom center to fit the rubber fittings and go fly.

Glenn,
I made a custom tank for the Reaction using a Windex refill bottle. I wanted to expand it in to better fit the available space so I made a cap fitting for it, pumped it up to about 2 psi and started shaping it with a heat gun - slowly until I got it where I wanted. Took me three bottles to get it right but it worked out well in the end. It's been a few years now and 2 more owners and it's still going strong.

Schampoo bottle with a standard fuelstopper modified with larger washers works very well. Infact I have yet to find a container that won't work with jetfuel/diesel except for maybe a Mc Donalds cup ;-)

Since you aren't from the USA and don't have to comply with USA AMA regs. for insurance, it can be your choice. Other then making sure you comply with Canadian rules. Truthfully, as a USA AMA Turbine CD, that does training and signing guys' off for the waiver, I don't like to see either, due to puncture resistance in a wreck. I prefer the Kevlar tanks first, and then fiberglass/composite tanks.
AMA doesn't say that either can't be used, but I just don't like to see them.

They don't allow jets. I do have my 44% Giles, so could take that to the event. Right now I am having health issues and on pain meds, and kind of grounded myself. I am feeling better, and not waking up in pain or dizzy. But, I haven't flown for more then a month or two. Want to go flying this week at Area 52 with the Giles, before I take any of my jets up again.

I use water and juice bottles for gas tanks in my planes; I sellnylon fittings and gas line, all compatible with gasoline, diesel, kerosene and most all parafinic fuels used.
Regarding toughness in a crash, epoxy/kevlar possibly has an edge because of its thickness. Polyester bottles are thin walled and are tough against blunt material penetration, but will not resist sharp shards as well as a kevlar/epoxy tank might.

Here is what i found for fuel tank.It is plastic bottle not from carbonated drink. It is 500ml.Then i searched and i found the company that manufactures and i take 150 pieces .The shape is like saddle tank! The weight is 34gr L 18cm W 8.5cm H 4,5cm.It is very strong i destroyed a piece for testing and withstood enough. Now I want to find out how to connect them in series or parallel? I need 4 tank 2lt. Which way is better?I will do some tests with the two ways.

Nice! When you crushed the one bottle, was it sealed? Please remember that, other then the over flow, it will be a sealed system. This means that the extra air or fuel pressure, while being crushed, has to go some where? Will the lid blow off? Fuel line blow off? Or the tank split? Just thoughts to consider. Nothing right or wrong.

OK! Argyris!
For all of our learning experience! Hypothetically, would you mind setting up the next test, since you are set up with the bottles and testing of them?
Plumb a bottle as a tank that you would use for a jet fuel system, as you have in previous pictures. For Saftey concern, fill the bottle/fuel tank half full of water. Have the vent going unrestricted to the out side, and have the main fuel line restricted, as going to the fuel pump at idle(because the pilot knows he is crashing, but doesn't turn the engine off). How much restriction should be at least half of the volume, if unrestricted fuel line to the pump. NOW, take a sledge hammer and hit it hard, with SAFTY Gogles on!!
See what happens! Again, I don't know the results, and thus asking to learn! Dan
