Does anyone have any info on where the color scheme comes from? I'm having a hard time finding anything that looks like this.

Thanks
Kerry

Are you painting the covering or are you striping it down, glassing, etc? I like this plane, but really don't like the choice of scheme.

I couldn't stand the look of the tail wheel that was provided [:'(], so I decided to do something a little different. It isn't scale, but I think it looks better than what came with the plane. Hopefully you'll agree.

I used a Dubro semi-scale 60-120 size tail wheel instead, and I moved it back close to its scale location. It will probably have the turning radius of a tractor trailer, but hopefully it won't be too bad if I crank up the rates.

Friend of mine used the same dubro tail wheel, but made the linkages internal.

I myself installed a retractable tail unit on mine.

Here's a few pics. Maidened mine yesterday. CG at 3.25"

Electric power 90 on 8s 5000 45c nanotech batts. 18x12 turnigy cherry wood prop

I did not have to add much weight up front to balance. Aside from the motor and the batteries as far forward as possible, I added only 1oz of dead lead. I have a full cockpit, full body pilot, gauges, gun sight, armoroed backplate behind the pilot, etc.
Plane flew just fine and most of the flight was at 1/2 throttle.

I wasn't motivated enough to go with the retractable tail wheel.

I like the tulip. Where did you get the decal for the tail?

I did Graf's red tulip on a Sky Shark kit I built. It came in so heavy that I never got it off the ground. Ended up selling it. Maybe I should see about buying it back and repowering it. I'll bet a DLE 20 would do wonders.

A lot of places do custom decal work if you just send them a picture. Most of the stuff I get is from Callie.

Finally got back to my build, the wing was a bit of a pain, the flaps took a while to match up. one of my eflite retracts is not working right, the motor is not strong enough and gear stops mid way. i will try to get a hold of horizion and see what they can do. I balanced the CG at 3.25 but it took alot of weight. almost ready for test flight.

Almost finished mine. Flaps need to be connected, engine still needs to be broken in. Power plant is a OS95V 4 stroke and a RC Specialties Custom Header. Prop will be changed once engine is broken in!

The eflite retracts failed on me the first flight, the gear hung in the half way postion on one side and the other retracted fully, when a went to put it down the hung gear didnt move. i manged to recover the a/c with out causing any damage. i just got a hold of horizon hobbies and there going to send me a new retract for that side. the madian flight i was really tail heavy and i was balanced at 3.25 but it looks great in the air , just have to work the bugs out of it.

If it was real tail heavy, then it wasn't balanced at 3.25". Mine is set at 3.25" and flies steady as can be.

i was balanced at 3.25 and running a 14-8 prop and it was pulling hard nose up, i changed to a 15-8 prop and it seems to be much better.

How did changing the prop affect the cg? Unless you changed over to an extremely heavy prop I don't understand how that made a difference.

Sounds a lot more like your elevators weren't near neutral. At 3.25" this plane is not anywhere close to tail heavy. Maybe you didn't put anyway down thrust in.

Good evening,

well, when I saw that Jimmy needs to add 10oz of lead with the Saito 125 I thought why not go with the laser 150? No lead, more than enough power and its nice and compact too

Any objections?

Make sure you replace the included Y-harness with a heavy duty one. Also, your retracts should be powered with no less than a 10-amp BEC or 6v receiver battery. On my 109, I had to adjust the gear rails because they were not perfectly aligned and caused one of the retracts to barely operate once I tightened them down.
