HSF June 29-30 NATS Warm-Up
We are going to squeez in another race before the NATS this year. Our second race will be at the Lake Afton RC Field in Goddard, KS on June 29th & 30th. For those of you heading out to the NATS it will give you a chance for one last weekend of practice in "game conditions". If you aren't planning on making to the NATS this will give you an opportunity to get some racing in.
For those of you that haven't been to the field it's a nice wide open space with plenty of room for racing. Also the view from the pits is unobstructed so you can take in the whole race. As an added bonus the work force from the last couple races will be returning.
Please let Moe or myself know if you are planning on coming by sending one of us an email with your name, AMA #, events and any teammate.
As always feel free to ask quesitons.
Thanks,
Lonnie

RE: HSF June 29-30 NATS Warm-Up
Hopefully the contestants will concur with this but I thought the race went really well, overall.
As is typical the wind was a little bit of a battle on Saturday, but hey it's Kansas there isn't anything to stop the wind. The temps were in the lower 90's, actually cool in the shade with the wind, and sunny all day. Even with the wind we had some really good racing and to my knowledge we only lost a couple quickies, one to flutter and one to a wing failure (sorry Duane G). Sunday was a little cooler in the mid 80's with less wind but just as much sun. There were several tight races in both classes, one 424 race was settled by less than .10 seconds. Everyone seemed to have a good time but I'll let them give their own opinion if they so desire to.
Chase (Ben Hobbs' new bride) took a ton of great pictures. She is still sifting through them but has posted several here that shows some of the action. http://heartlandspeedfreakz.smugmug.com ... Key=hRkPrc (hopefully that will work as a link)
I'll post the results of the race later today.
Thanks to all the pilots that attended the race, without you guys we wouldn't have a race to put on.
