i just started to assemble my monster spitfire from easy tigre and enjoyed your comments as i had been looking for other flyers who have this plane. this is my first plane of this size and am enjoying the experiance . i plan on using what is refered to as a 5.8 96 cc engine in the plane it will be fit nicely in the cowl will just need to cut out bottom of the cowl for exaust. engine is called first place and assembled not far fom me i went there the other day and saw it bench tested. as usual the instructions leave a lot to be desired i am 78 and have building experiance with the smaller stuff so this is a great challange for me. good luck with your plane and thanks for your time charlie

no, not realy [:@]

only some filler and sanding in my modified cockpit area.......but otherwise it has migrated to the corner of my workshop.

In a few years time it will be flying

Great thread, thanks for posting the pictures on the retract cylinder leak, I have a retract cylinder leak on my Yloow Aircraft Spitfire and I now see how the end cap probably comes off.
Cheers, ken

Just cruzing around this thread and watched the link. I was offered that very same spitfire (now crashed) plus a whole new fuse, last weekend after he saw my ESM Fw-190 Dora fly So I had to at least let him have a twiddle of the sticks, he walked away with a shopping list of everything I used....

Your work with it SJN looks great so far!

Thanks

dave

oh boy I realy regret letting it go know,,..,it was built by a bloke in blackpool ..,its a long story which I cant go into on here but I didn't get what id paid for to cut a long story short,.,.anyway maybe one day it might be in the air,,.the LMA inspected it & it had its permit to test fly...,but it was two years ago now maybe 3 ,..,so who knows where she is now,.,.,.anyway after that saga im looking for a cheaper smaller one,.,.this seems to tick all my boxes,.,.,but I will be scaling it up quite a bit,.,.as SNJ is doing,.id like to see if a mick reeves cowl will fit it,.id like some more dihedral & add some scale legs mounted more inboard.., .,,.as I do mine I will also be posting pics,.,.but maybe in a separate thread on both here & rc groups,.

will be starting to do some mods on this once it arrives .,,.,.I think first will be moving the retracts inboard & maybe even replacing them with some electric mick reeves units.,,.,.also alter the wing dihedral ,..,im hoping this can be done by bending the wing tubes in a frends pipe bender that's hydraulic & can be set to what ever angle in degrees,.,.,.i think a small tweek will make a big difference to the look..,,.my builder says 6" at the wing tip,..,.i doubt the kit is any where near that!,,,.

just for kicks, I messured my wings, and they are 13,5cm 5.3"

So you wont be bending much.
But if you bend it, the streight center section might look odd.

Forgot how massice the wings are compared to my other models

dam someone dumped a surf board in your room,,.!,,.,.anyway that's interesting.,5.3 is almost the mick reeves plan specs,.,.but the arf one looks much flatter,,.still I may go for a few inches more to give the look im after,..,,.as there just is something about this whole wing that looks off to me,.,.,.ive also noticed the leading edge has what looks like a angle at the end of the invasion stripes,..,,im sure this should flow more smoothy,.,.,should have some pics next week,.,.,,.

can you put a few pics up of the canopy head on now you've done the mod with the reeves one,.,,.just interested to see how it looks,.,.,.

Still far from finished, but this is what it looks at the moment.
When I glue in the rear section of the window over the radio compartment, the lower window sill will be filled and painted, which will reduce the size so it will look correct.

The CyModel fuselage is a bit too wide for the mick reeves canopy......its only sport scale
