Yates55 and redbiscuits,
Both of you are doing some super beautiful work.
You are an inspiration to many modelers.

Some progress update......
Summer time for me usually it is extremely busy since I work in construction and to find time to dedicate to our hobby it is almost impossible at times.
I have been trying however to push the build forward nevertheless.
I have to apologize that I have been sleeping at the wheel with the thread but I hope I can make up with the following series of pictures showing the progress so far.
I could not resist to paint the plane in aluminum as my P-51 is. It is more difficult I think of any other color since it shows every imperfection in your work but at the same time all your hard work detailing the plane it sure comes up front.
I am going after a combination of color scheme with little less invasion stripes and somewhat less nose art as one of the pictures shows.
Bottom wing is complete, top is in the process of receiving the bars and star.
Fuselage needs one more coat of aluminum and then it is ready for invasion stripes and bars and star as well.
Wing control surfaces are ready to be joined, fuse are primed and standing by for paint.
After all paint is complete I will apply the nomenclature sheet as per picture, and then a couple of coats of flat fuel proof clear.
The product in the picture works wonder for me in the past. Bit pricey but worth the money in my opinion.
Hopefully I will be able to show her off at the war bird event here in NEO toward the end of August.....
Anyway here some pictures....enjoy:

Was edited to reformat the text. I had run into a problem that all text was bunched together and I do not know why.

Fabio, Wow that really looks good, I can't wait to be where you are in my build. I too am using aluminum paint. Can't wait to see your bird all dressed up, great job.
Question, are you using a rattle can for the clear coat?

The one pictured is the actual clear coat I will be using.

Mustangman: I looked at the Pics but I'm missing something or are U just making the Tail Wheel Gear doors conform to the curvature of the Fuse and then cut them to fit the opening. Also do the doors start as one piece and U part them down the Fuse center line then shape and fit them individually? Another questin: does the Kit come with a plastic cover for that aera like the ARF.?

ahhhhh the slug of the group finally found the time and desire to get back on the Jug...
I laid up the tailwheel doors and went a different route then the mass...
I first monokoted the area, then taped down 1/64 light ply, I then mixed up some 30min epoxy and laid in 5oz cloth, followed by another layer of 1/64 ply.. Taped it real well then took shrink wrap and made sure that I was set in the epoxy with the shape of the tail.. Once that is dry, i will lay up some 1/16" balsa over it and let dry..
The mainreason I do it like this is that if the fit isn't just perfect after they are all hooked up, It's simple to just retractthe gear and sand it in... I have done this in the past (years ago) with great results, keep you posted on how they come out...
I also started glassing, just the flaps but it's a start...I am really liking this EzeKote stuff, a lot!!!!

I got pics but RCU won't let me load them, imagine that!!!!!!!!

Your spot on, this is just to get the shape of the area.. They will be cut to size then attached to the Tailwheel and then sanded in before glassing.. I will take pics as I go to help better understand it.. The Kit doesn't come with any plastic covers like the arf does....
Just a heads up, I see you are in WI and not to far from my area.. We are having a big two day fun fly at the Ogle county airport in Mount Morris on theJune22-23.. I'm going to put it up in the events and will send you a link, it will have all the info...

Little more progress...
Tail wheel doors and canopy completed.....
Working on the wing next. Attaching the control surfaces and installing gear and servos, hopefully by week end.
Fuse got the Blue back ground for the bars and stripes. I will try to shoot some white tomorrow. Pictures to follow.

That last shot of the canopy is just unreal... If I could do half as good as that, I would be a happy camper. Nice, nice, nice work. One day............

RE: Top Flite Giant P-47 Build
The numbers came from Callie Graphics, tail , sides and pilot info are from her.
That being said I do have stars and bars and invasion strips for top and bottom of wing and fuse if anyone needs them
The numbers are really flat so i just went with them instead of paint
