WACO YMF
RE: WACO YMF
Welcome Dino, don't forget plenty of photos when you open the big boxes. Going in to the Big Building tomorrow so as they can have a little poke about at my heart and things so might be off the radar for a short while.

RE: WACO YMF
Welcome Dino,
Also building Barth 1/3 Waco. But mine is the older kit. Many areas are similar. I think you will appreciate the fine design and attention to detail. It was a real head scratcher for me with the typed seven or eight pages of instructions translated from German. Peter Barth and another member here recommended I look at the PDF for build of later model. It was a great help. I have wings and tail framed and presently working fuse. I'm sure members of this group can answer whatever questions you have.

Dino,
Welcome to the brotherhood looking forward watching your build.
I’m still undecided in what engine I will be using in my ¼ Barth. I was leaning toward the saito FG-57 twin gas engine but for a few hundred more I can go with the evolution 7 cyl 77cc radial engine. Any one have any experience with this engine or any thoughts on it?

To all the brotherhood that have sent there well wishes,thank-you. At this time it is only to have a look at what was done about two years ago and see if there needs to be any follow up work , hoping all is good and to be home again tomorrow night.

Working on the Fuel System today. Joe is ready for a maiden soon and has definitely been patient with the stops and starts. Hoping to get some momentum and finish things up. Maybe by this weekend . . . Who knows. Can't wait to fly this baby

I have a Evolution 7-77 Radial in my 1/4 scale Waco YKS-6. It weighs 24.5 lbs and has plenty of reserve. I'm quite sure the engine could handle another 10lbs easily. It's really a great engine.

Thanks for the input it’s an impressive looking engine and looks great in the cowl. Your YKS-6 is also a great looking plane do you have any video sure would like to see and hear that engine.

Dan, I agree, I'd really like to hear the Evolution 7-77 running. This is the gasoline engine correct?

No I wish it was gas this is the glow fuel the next size up is gas at 160cc but its 11†all I have is 10†inside my cowl not to mention the cost is almost three times as much.[:@]

Sorry but I do not have any video. The engine does put out a great sound. When I fly everyone stops to watch and listen.
You might be interested to know that for fuel I use 100% methanol mixed with Klots Super Techniplate. (5 gal. to 1 quart). The engine runs great and there is very little cleanup.
I'll try and find someone with a video camera.

RE: WACO YMF
Here are some photos from the fuel system project. Had some random tubing laying around and decided to go for it. Made the Ts with 45 degree angle cuts and then wrapped the lines with larger size tubing sleeve to simulate the hose adapters. These are servo push rod tubing parts.
The fuel line is soft aluminum cable. It's very lightweight and easy to work with. The bends in the fuel line to guide it down the struts are a bit tricky to replicate. I looked at reference photos to try and replicate the full size design. The line braces are made from lightweight aluminum sheets that I cut into strips then molded to house the fuel lines.
The Fuel line system is so beautiful on the Waco and it adds nice detail with the color under the wing with very little weight. Probably only 2 oz max for the 1/5 scale. I added a couple drops of glue to one side of the braces (still removable) so the parts will stay in tact in flight. Removing the top wing will be tricky at this point but doable. Just have to be careful with the little parts.

RE: WACO YMF
thank you. i think it is the first time you can see by video all the detials that you can not see sometime in photo and you can get more details. you can stop the movie when ever you want to and see fix picture.
RE: WACO YMF
Wacodream, the fuel lines look really great, is the soft alloy that you used hollow? I need to fabricate something like what you have done to hide the servo wires from the top wing. I have tried some alloy tubing but it was too firm to do any nice bends.
. To all, had my angiogram today and given the all clear.
