Yves,

How long does it take to start, from the time the rotor engages and are you getting any excessive flames on start up?

Yves,

If you are using a 7.4 lipo battery, it has to be fully charged and you will be limited on the number of starts. When the voltage drops to 8V you will not get a good start and probably a no start.

Please adjust your settings to the following:

Auto +1
Pump Start Ramp 8
Glow Power 7.3V
Low Batt 7V
Start Power Ignit 110
Starter Power Fuel Ramp 150
RPM 100% Starter 15000
RPM Stop 20000
RPM Reconnect 18000
RPM Ignition 3000
Pump PW Ignition 17
Engine Min Flow 80%
EGT End 72°C
RPM Preheat K 5000
RPM Fuel Ramp 8000
Preheat Fuel 25%
Ignit Time Out 27s
Start Mode AUTO KERO

Also go in the RUN menu and change the start temp to 80*C

let me know how this goes for you.

Yves,

I'm glad we figured out the problem on the phone today. The Kero plug is very demanding on the battery during the start cycle. As you saw on your GSU during start process, the voltage dropped to 7.2V and it takes a good 8V to operate properly.

7.4V lipo packs are great battery packs for propane start turbines but just don't have the power to start Kero version consistanly.

Regards,
Dirk

hey
flejter1, i have a quick question for you;

I noticed you already descried the data terminal set up for the other fella's and i will make sure mine is set up according to yours but as my data terminal is set up right now, it causes a bit of fire of about 5 feet long and at times its more overwhelming than that which really scares me. when i turn off the engine, i notice a pile of jet fuel that comes out of the turbine. what you think is causing this problem?

Thanks!

Try lowering your preheat fuel a few %

Andre, Fender is right, many time by leaning out preheat fuel sorts out the problem, another thing you could do is to increase preheat RPM. More importantly, we need to know at what stage of the start sequence it is flamy, again, perhaps a video with camera pointing to the GSU and tail cone could help me sort it out for you.

Regards,
Barry

A friend of mine has a video I'll try to uploaded from his cell phone in the near future. I'm very much new to turbines so basic/simple talk make my life easier lol. I tried followig the chart given above but I wasn't able to follow it step by step. On the data terminal. Some of the terminology was different and I didn't want to mess anything up.

Could someone please check these settings.

The engine wont fire up on either sets of the parameters and Im starting to think that something must be plugged in wrong or something is not working correctly on the engine.

Prior to touching the engine and on my old settings, it would fire up but there would be a lot of fire come back from the thrust pipe. (this would always happen on the second start of the day)
