If those are the pipes to the rear of oil cooler doors they aren't Exhaust per say
Per the illustration they are the Waste Gait extensions. The exhaust runs from the collector ring back to the Turbo Super charge. Just to clarify. Excellent Job on the Jug
From Wikipedia: If one want's to improve their knowleded on War Birds the NET
is the place to do it.

Though these 1/15 scale Aluminum models by Rojas Bazan Complete right down to the last detail and some with working engines. U have to admire this mans modeling skills and attention to detail as U browse through his Museum of hand mane metal aircraft. Enjoy

Flight #4 and 5

Traveled up to Waco yesterday and flew at Heart of Texas Miniature Aircraft Club (HOTMAC) for their scale event. What a great day, awesome facility!

A friend of mine also went along and brought his TF Staggerwing. The jug ran flawlessly and was making good power. I ended up getting two more flights on her.
My friend and I also walked away with best military and best civilian awards. Not too shabby.

The flat on the way home didn't even wipe the grins off our faces.

Thanks to Paul, (thebeave) also for stopping by and visiting with us. Good to see you again buddy.

Congratulation Gary......off you go to Top Gun next!!

Anyway, our friend Ram360 has finished with his project and he's planning to maiden on July 4th weekend.
He asked me to post a couple of pictures of his plane that he sent me from his phone.

Maybe U should give that dirty thing a bath. It's got dirt and crap all over the wings and tail feathers .... Of course I'm just jabbing ya with a sharp stick. Really looks like a Jug that's been on the line for a while and had a few sorties over Europe. None of this Factory New Stuff. Much more Real look to the plane. Again great job like to see some Up Close and personal detail pics .... PLZ

Thanks for posting the pics Fabio. Hounddog this is my plane, my first build, my first time glassing, first time doing weathering. It looks ok, but there are a lot of imperfections.  Going to try maiden it this Saturday, just need to balance it and build a stand to hold it.

Ram360:
I gathered from the text it was your plane. First job last job from the pics it's great (Wash Job or Not). I can see U spent considerable time and effort. Here's hoping the maiden goes well .... See if U can get some one, that can hold a video camera steady, to tape it for U then put it on YouTube for all us P-47 lovers to see. Anyway great job and best of luck on the 4th of july
p.s.
A couple more detail Pics PLZ

Here is the dummy radial I detailed, its the FTE cast resin one.   Also did the topflite dash kit and found a gun sight kit to put in it, the LED for the ignition kill is also mounted in the dash.

Also not sure how this 4 bladed prop is going to pull.  I'm a 3D flier at heart so this war bird is going to be a change.  All my other planes have 2 to 1 power to weight ratios.  Its going to be hard to not try and hover it lol.  Already thinking about a winter build, just not sure what.

Congrats Gary, that's awesome you had no motor problems and won a trophy.. Keep on racking up the flights and enjoying her.............

Ram,
Well done my friend, she came out great!!!!! Looking forward to the maiden and seeing her in action, job well done.. Do yourself a favor, no hovering with her for the first few flights...lol

I wish you guys lived closer, we have a big event this coming weekend at the airport and would love to have your 47's making fly by's!! One of our members is into really big planes and is an awesome 3D'er. He has a trailer full of 40% but is bringing his monster 60% Extra 260!! 18' ws with a 342cc motor it's one of only 3 in the the USA and I am told he really rings it out.. Can't wait to see this monster ripping KE's across the runway and I'm told he had it hovering last week.....

Thanks Fabio, I don't see that happening anytime soon though.
There was a 1/4 scale WWI S.P.A.D. there that I thought was sure to win. The guy that built it did a fantastic job of building and flying. He put a lot of details on it, and it was beautiful to look at. I was quite surprised when I won.

Ram, hope you get some good weather too, 8-12mph straight down the runway, and you will be golden. [8D]

That the big thing with Judging anything that involves a human. It's all subjective. U felt that the S.P.A.D. was better and supprized to win, How about the S.P.A.D. modeler? All Contest that have a Human Judging is a Crap Shoot. Try the Westminster Dog Show, A real Insider Crap Shoot. But then it's still nice to win ain't it?

Yes it's a 20x10 from TBM. The motor is not new it came off a Pitts python I sold.  Even if it was new I would just put it on and fly. I don't use break in props on any of my gassers.
