Default P-47 mission/ kill markings

I was wondering if there was someone out there who could help me identify some of the mission tally markings on a plane I'm trying to replicate with a Yellow P-47. I'm particularly interested in the umbrellas and the figures along the top row. If anyone knows of where I can upload some "wingdings or "dingbats" that I can print on some decal paper, I'd owe ya! Thanks!

Wow that pilot has some combat time, a factory, trains, convoys, aircraft, bombing. I wonder if the umbrella means escort missions like "cover" and the brooms mean "sweeps" ?
I have some books can try and check for you.

Thanks Chris! That's exactly what I was looking for. The little planes above the umbrellas still stumps me. I met the pilot Herb and his brother Walter, in Urbana, OH last year during the Doolittle's Raider Reunion. Walter was a tailgunner in a B-25 over China/Burma and survived getting shot down. Here's a link to some more pics of Walter during WWII and a couple of neat stories.

This video link is some footage I shot of the brothers getting a ride courtesy of the Texas CAF. A great story and some wonderful shots of Warbirds in formation at dusk

Here's a couple of shots of the Yellow P-47 nearing completion!

Lil Herbie looks like a Razor back from the picture. Was the bubble version painted the same way?

Previous versions were Razorbacks...this one is not. Any ideas on the "little plane" mission markings?

Do you have his combat record? I would say those are air to air kills or air to ground kills from strafing an airfield. I look for some more info.

I don't have his combat record although I believe I recall seeing it somewhere when I was researching him. I'll see if I can find it. If you've seen my video of their flight from a ground perspective, here's a link to some aerial footage shot by Warbird Radio.com

I do know Herb flew over 100 missions. If you google him you'll find a lot of neat stuff.

I found some more info on Herb's squadron and the last report of the plane. Another pilot was flying it, John K. Jones Jr., and was shot down by an FW 190 if the report is accurate, 24/12/44, the day before Christmas.

I still haven't found his combat record so its something to dig for online or request from the National Archives maybe. I was looking for it from the squadrons side instead of his personal info.

Still looking...
