A350 flies
Hugely successful first flight of the A350 XWB just completed. British designed and built wings, landing gear and RR engines, (Trents with upto 97,000 pounds of thrust.) British test pilot in command. Seems we still CAN make things that the world wants to buy, 650 sold to date !!

RE: A350 flies
Nice plane! and talking about Airbuses, let me tell something funny happened to me while traveling back from Chile in a Airbus 330.
Returning home with my refrigerator-sized box with the Roo inside it, I was worried because I was almost the last passenger at the check-in due a delay in the car rental company with the car I used in Santiago. Fortunately I was able to fit the box inside the plane (thanks TAM airlines!) and asked without too much expectations if there was still a place available with extra leg room, even if I was among the last ones to board (I´m quite tall ). The attendant typed something in the terminal, and then shook his head, said nothing and gave me the ticket... Not wanting to push my luck further I didn´t asked any more questions , thanked and then boarded the plane wich was full (also with many friends returning to Brazil) and to my big surprise, I was upgraded to the first class!
This plane´s seats where fantastic, with electrical adjust and plenty of room for stretching the legs.. very confy. The lunch was great with many options and wines, wich I declined and choosed water and coke instead.LOL. Also a cool feature is the outside cameras in wich we can select the angle and see the ground passing by, among with a navigation map showing aircraft data. After 4 hours of this treat, we arrived at Sao Paulo with the Kangaroo and its owner in a excellent condition.. So I can say now by personal experience the Airbus 330 as a great airplane to fly, presuming you are fortunate to have a seat at the firsts rows .

Looks nice, and more importantly I'm sure it will be a money maker. I'm still a staunch Boeing fan (aside from the 787 "not ready for prime time" debacle) but Airbus clearly makes a product that many airline managers and pilots want to fly, and many passengers want to fly on... Well done Airbus.

And so it begins. To whom shall I send condolences? Ha ha ha !

I'll never touch a yoke again.

I've always wondered ir there was a problem with Airbus pilots, you know, when after every flight the airplane calls you a retard.

It calls you a retard twice. The first is a verb, the second a noun. :-)

I had a belly roller just then! The verb, noun thing got my funny bone.
I grew up on Boeing and love them dearly, especially the 2, 5 and the 7 I fly now. Just saw an 8 in Barcelona. Ugly nose but a beautiful wing.
Congrats on the A350! First flights are cool. Must have been something to work on the fuel system design.
I'm standing in front of the right engine of the triple, Forbes field, Topeka, KS.

[link]http://www.a350xwbfirstflight.com[/link] Long slow video but you get to see it fly. I've got about 6000 Boeing hrs and about 9000 Airbus hrs. Boeing is nice, especially the 777 but the Bus is nicer. Quiet, comfortable and fun to fly. I love the stick vs the yoke. Beat me up if you want to but thats the way uh uh I like it! Dinner on the tray beats dinner on my lap. oh yeah, when it's talking...it talks to the Captain.
