Who flies Saito 40
OK, Horizon is out of the Saito 40. Who besides me and Joe flies them? I have never seen anyone at our club with one.
Mine pulls the Pheonix Models Sonic Low Wing perfectly, awesome combo.

My flying buddy has one in a little Cub. It flies really nicely. I think I have a video on YouTube of him flying it.

Despite a crappy camera and wind, it did happen. Last summer in fact.

I have one in a small Tiger Moth - it has been in there for years. So long, in fact, that the little Tiggie has been recovered twice and is now in it's third colour scheme!
Here with the 2nd scheme
Long flights on still evenings due to the low throttle settings necessary!

Got two of them; one still NIB. The other saw duty in a Aeromax 25-40 counterfit Rascal. Very nice combo. And, as was stated previously, very stingy on fuel usage. Dumb-Thumbed the Rascal, then put the engine in a World Models P51 40EP. More than ample power, but a badly warped wing has so far prevented a successful flight. ...George K

I have 2 I fly on controlline planes. A Gieske Nobler and a regular Nobler.. They are excellent controlline engines! Carbs modified with a variable venturi screw by Bob Reeves and turning a 11-7 RevUp prop on 20-20. One of my favorites.

G'day
I have two. One was in a 80% Astro Hog and flew it really well (it is currently on loan to a friend for his small SE5a) and the other is in a Phoenix Tiger Moth which it flies perfectly. I originally had a Saito 30 in the Tiger but it was a bit too "scale" and the 40 is far better.

i have a saito 40 also and its a very reliable little engine. i have it now 3 years and up until recently i had it on a seagull jumper 25. it flew this plane really well. i wouldnt hesitate to buy another one and its also very easy on fuel.

In between flying the Tiger Moth with the 30 (which I was assured was all it needed), I also tried an old OS FS 40. It has about the same power as the 30 and was no better than the Saito 30. The 40 is a considerably more powerful engine. Mind you, the 30 is now in a Dynaflite Butterfly which is currently getting a new Rx battery. It is actually a little too powerful for the Butterfly. I used to like it with an OS 26 FS.
