Default frsky with FASSTest?

i bought a futaba T14SG. it was on back order for over amonth.
i bought 6 frsky TFR6 to use with it.
everything i read says it works with FASST, no where do i see it works with FASSTest.
i tried 2 of them and cant bind them.
the futaba rx is so simple, turn it on and it binds, real easy.
i just hate to pay $90 per rx, unless i have to.

i went on futaba site
i found a chart of compatible rx's
the 617 is a 7channel FASST rx.
they list rx's under 12 or 14 channel FASSTest, FHSS, multi FASST and 7channel FASST.
it says that these settings are protocol under screen selection. i found that in the book.
but when i selected 7 channel FASST the entire screen changes.
there is no "LINK" selection.
at the bottom it says ch8-12, dg1-2: invalid
dont know what that means.
the book then tells me how to link.
"press and hold the link switch"? as per page 75 near the bottom.

so now
how do i link it in fasst 7ch mode?
theres no "link" command to click on

If you are in 7 channel mode press link button on frsky Rx & turn your transmitter on & it should link it's a slightly different process than it is with a genuine Futaba Rx

that was real easy
i was expecting to have to push a button or set the TX to "link" some how.
i just left the TX on the home screen (after setting in 7ch FASST mode), turned on the frsky rx while holding its button.
it binded immediately.
thanks for the replies.

As a reasonably priced alternative FrSky rocks.

Sales rep from frsky claims 1.2km range
We tested today on the ground
We got perfect signal a good .3 miles
The futaba 7008 we got .5miles
In the air it would probably have a longer range because of interference on the ground
I would use frsky on most aircraft
But
My sailplanes I need the longest range
It makes a great alternative for the money

i use the the TFR6 with my 14sg. They are great. I use them on Fasst 7ch. There is a slip of paper that comes with the RX that explains how to bind/link them. I think it is something like: Press and hold rx failsafe button and power up rx. turn on transmitter and when the light on the rx goes green you release the failsafe button.

The 14Sg will only Link to FASSTest receivers via the Tx LIN function.

All other Rx require you to do it the old fashoined way of holding downa bind button on the Rx.
