RE: Kansas Tornado P47 @ Tiger
Hi Graham,
Beautiful workmanship!
I have this model on my bench.
I would like to make some wheel covers like the way you have done in post #10.
Can you please tell me how they are made and in particular how they have been attached to the wheel hub?
I am trying to make my P47 to be "Miss Second Front." It has similar wheel hubs.
Thank you, Adam.

Hi Adam, many thanks for the comps on Kansas T.
Adam Great choice on you your Scheme .
Regarding the hubs, well I made them from litho plate sheet, first off I just cut a larger section of litho ,and as you can see in the photos I have a blue fome sheet, get your wheel hub and lay over the litho, now press the hub down onto the litho and gently rock to leave an indent of the hub on the litho, now you should have a perfect outline of the hub on the litho.
Next up is getting the dome , cut around the indent on the litho and leaving a good bit of spare, now turn over and fit over your hub,and using small clamps or clips clamp onto the the inside of the hub, now the slow part, using a rounded end of dowel or as in the photo large red end of screwdriver, start to gently press into the litho plate in a circular motion, the litho should start to slowly concave,it does take a while to do,take it easy as just as you think your there it might dent!!!!! It happened to me twice and the air was blue!!![:@]
The hubs are secured with small screws tapped into the wheels.
Hope this helps.
Regards Graham.

Saw this plane in person today..... magnificent!
John, if you want to maiden at Free State we would be happy to host. I spent some time talking with you about the plane and your move from VA. As I mentioned PGRC would be a good place too.

I don’t have any photos from this weekend but a lot were taken of KT by others. Will be going to Warbirds over Delaware (WOD) in a few weeks and will take photos there.
I won’t have the required number flights in to participate at WOD but to plan to do some ground taxing while there.

Hoping to have time to replace the futaba pss2018 with a PowerBox Royal SRS before WOD. Will also be upgrading to the new Moki ignition.
If not, will use my WOD time to retrofit KT with these items.

Hello Graham,
I sent you a pm but I don't know if it's gone through because it has not shown up in my sent messages.
Anyway, I just wanted to compliment you on your Tornado Kansas P47. It is truly stunning and inspiring !
I built a flair SE5A a few years ago and detailed it up. I'm now looking forward to starting a 70" P47 (Ziroli) and will use your build for inspiration. Will be starting it later in the year when I move house.
How do you finish your chrome - did I read somewhere you sell your own paint ??
Thanks again for sharing your work.
Regards,
Stewart Reid
ps - is your email still the blue yonder one.
