Thank you for so nice words...
I was hoping that prepare model for blue color will be faster, but it need more time than I expect.
Until that check this great picture of real G2 in "action"...
This is same color scheme like on model...

RE: Galeb G2 - new jet made in Serbia
Tomorrow I will finally go to my friend workshops for painting and paint blue color on model.
Unfortunately I need more time to prepare all parts. Wing was relatively easy to prepare...
I forget to apply masc for insignia so I add it later. It's not on this pictures...
On fuselage I have more work to do. Front, removable part get clear plastic...
Biggest work was on canopy. Old canopy, which I made few weeks ago, now I used for template for new canopies, I got few days ago. This new canopy are made from 1 mm thick plastic, and are quite sturdy.
After I trim and fix new canopy on frame, I must apply vinyl masc for glass areas. Template I get from our 3D drawing, so I cut every glass separately and glue it...
First I put all glasses and fix it with tape.
When I measure all distance I apply front and two side glasses. I mark exactly position for every glass masc...
Next was glass in the middle of the canopy. After measure, I fix it on the top of the canopy and glue firs one, than other side...
For two biggest glasses I first made frame from 3M thin tape and fill it with paper tape... For tis operation you must have good eye and steady hand...
Finally I apply screws around of the glasses, like it was on real Galeb G2. I forget to made picture of this details...
Canopy is now ready for painting in blue. After that process I'll remove templates and canopy will be clear with blue frame...
Last job was to made templates for pilot name, registration, flag...
Some of this letters and decals I made in my firm for acro group Stars Galebs, so it was easy for me, I just need to find files in my PC and scale it down on 1/5 size...
Rudder...
So, that's it for today. Tomorrow morning I hope model will be complete paint... Cant wait...
Regards
Mirce

OK, here are all pictures...
First, two from yesterday of the canopy with dummy screws...
My friend Golub paint model, and like always he made perfect job...
After fuselage and small parts, he apply blue color on the wing...
This is paint masc for insignia...
Wing surface details...
Wing stay in Golub's work shop, because we need to apply red star in insignia, but other parts I take back to my work shop, where I start take down paper and vinyl tapes from the parts...
Without every new paper Galeb was to be more and more beautiful...
At the afternoon I went again in Golub's shop, where I apply paint masc, and he paint red star in insignia...
After that I take wing in my work shop also, and later my friend come to check is paint OK...
Model is perfect...
Two more of the fuselage...
Tomorrow we will start work on clear cote. For this operation we need three days...
Stay tuned for new episodes of this story...

Beautiful plane.... and GREAT job. Just the type of plane that I like. Long wings and great presence in the air. Please keep posting pictures. I've been following this threat for a long time and is good to see that maiden time is not that far anymore.

RE: Galeb G2 - new jet made in Serbia
Hello Mirce,
I am very happy I came to this forum to read about your Galeb G2 project. I must say that not only do you build INCREDIBLE WWII warbirds, you build jets with equal precision and skill. What amazes me even more is the fact that you and your friend designed this jet in CAD and you built it from scratch. Your friend the painter does AMAZING work too. He really brings your models to life, doesn't he? You must be thrilled with how your project is turning out..........
I will continue to check in on the progress of your Galeb G2. Like you, I can hardly wait to see it in the air.
Take care,
David

Thank you David on kind words... In few sentence you exactly describe this story and my feelings...
I told this many times, this is not just my project, because team of my friends stand behind every phase of building.
Martin made incredible 3D drawings and that is base of everything else...
My good old friend Duško Papić is mechanical Engineering and he made all calculations and he give me many good advices...
Dragan cut all parts on his laser cut machine...
Milan made all wooden parts (spars, wing joiner, many other small wood pieces...)...
And finally, Golub pant model. Golub is professional furniture painter, he has firm for that and all equipment with painting chamber...
Of course, in this project was involved my few others friends and I must mention great relations with German firms Jet Cat and Behotec.
Gonzalo thank you too... You told keep posting pictures, so here are new photos...
Yesterday I was again to Golub paint work shop. He apply clear cote on other side of the moving parts. Because we painting glossy clear cote, some parts must be paint in at once. Fuselage is first of that...
We made yesterday one hi tech machine for turning fuselage. R&D of tis machine was top secret...
I thing that everyone understand what happened...[8D]
As I told, fuselage must rotating until all sides was cover with clear cote...
Fuselage must stay for few hours until clear cote dried...
In mean time I prepare moving parts for clear cote on second side. First side was done day before...
Parts which was finished I bring in my work shop.
One of them is cabin. I add few small details, but nothing much...
I fix canopy with small screws and tomorrow I'll paint it in blue. In that color it will be less visible...
Original seat...
Seat in model...
Front, removable part of the fuselage is finish also, same like light cover...
I think, it's not bad...
At the end for today few pictures of tool and finish cabin...
Tomorrow morning I'll bring fuselage back to my work shop, and before that Golub will apply clear cote on the wing. That is last paint job on model. In next few days I will start with assembling process.
My Ziroli Panther will go to retirement and parts and turbine will be move in Galeb.
So maiden flight will be soon...
To be continued...
All the best from Novi Sad, Serbia
Mirce

RE: Galeb G2 - new jet made in Serbia
Thank you guys...
Everything is going according to plan ... Yesterday wing is paint in clear cote too. Both side was done at same time, first lower side...
...than we turn around wing, put it on wooden beams and then Golub Paint other wing side...
With clear cote wing get new dimension...
Fuselage and other parts I bring in my work shop. I could not keep away from the model, it is so nice...
Tail...
Martin come last evening to check our "baby" and we use that time to measure fuselage. Beam scale show this values:
Fuselage with three servos in the tail is 2930 gr...
Cabin is 310 gr...
Other parts are 400 gr...
Total weight is 3640 gr or 8,025 lb. I hope that finish, dry model, will not be more than 12 kilograms - 26,5 lb.

Mirce

Hey Mirce,
I just went back through your last few posts and read what you typed between the pictures. I couldn't take my eyes off the pictures the first time..........LOL The note you added below the picture of your four friends watching you while you work made me bust out laughing, because every Monday night, I go to a friends house and visit with a bunch of other guys while my friend builds his 1/3 scale Balsa USA Cub. We just sit back and drink soda's and coffee while he does all the work............
Take care,
David

RE: Galeb G2 - new jet made in Serbia
Speechless! After starting on page one in this thread I thought that, well interresting model - but wood.... But seing the final result as posted here just make me totally speachless. It is so beautiful, the craftmanship is among the very best I have ever seen. It just blows my mind. I don't know what to say...There are not words enough to do justice to this model. Great!
When you bring it to market, will the vinyl stickers for the details of the surface be availiabe as well? And do you have a price? Pls. PM it to me if you can.
Once again, congratiolations on a fantastic model!
Best regards
JHS

I call my friend and pilot of real Galeb G2 - Dragan Amidzic, to come and see model of his jet airplane.
He wasn't seen it yet, so was very impressed, and order to make him same like this one, but for static display... That is first order of this projects...[8D]
For Sunday we made agreement to made pictures of our two jets - real G2 and model G2. Hope weather be nice for this photo session...
