RE: Brison engines 3.2
They were eventually to be domed as they were anyway due to age of the technology, obsolescence, and availability of the old parts . If it were not for the Chinese competition, no doubt, Brison, et al would have come out with new, more modern, versions just as good or better than the old designs? The new designs of those parts used in the old Brisons are even more powerful and fuel effecient.
There's actually no reason why an individual cannot make his own conversion from a newer chainsaw? There have even been conversions of the current Chinese designs into custom model airplane engines.

Get in touch with Arthur Leung at www.cimmaster.com. He is the designer and manufacturer of the Brison engines. He may have some new ones around or will assemble one for you. Dan.

RE: Brison engines 3.2
I own 3 Brison's 3.2 and a 5.8. I found this tuning advise on RCU about 3 months ago and it works great! I now use mezlik 20-12 on my WW-2 planes (top flight P-51, and a Zero 92") and a 22-10 on a WW-1Fokker D-VII. All purring at 1600-6800 rpm. Hope it helps you too.
Brison 3.2 tuning:
"w8ye is correct in that the important thing is that the engine doesnt quit .
The 3.2 like many other engines will have a mid range burble and the best you can do is to tune most of it out . You need to find the sweet spot between transition and a clean mid range .
1) Be sure ignition timing is set at 28 to 30 degrees BTDC (throttle should be wide open if you have the mechanical advance)
2)Warm the engine up by flying a 5 to 10 minute flight , Land
3)Throttle the engine up to full throttle , set high needle for max RPM and no more ,do not peak and add any extra needle , Max RPM only !!!!!!
4)Throttle the engine up to the point where it runs the roughest in mid range throttle.
5)Making only very small needle movements ,adjust the Low needle in (leaning) until the mid range just begins to clear up.
6)Check throttle response , if the throttle response is clean with no hesitation stop moving Low needle
7)If throttle lags or hesitates richen Low needle only enough to regain good throttle transition.
Once Low needle is set for a good transition and a fairly clean mid range go to wide open throttle and set High needle for peak RPM again.
If after setting the carb by the steps above the engine is hard to start cold or hesitates when trying to throttle up when cold ,allow the engine to warm a little while when starting or richen the low needle only the width of a screw driver blade .
Most guys use a 22 inch prop. My Brison 3.2s pur along at 6800RPM with 20 inch props. Dan. "

RE: Brison engines 3.2
I will never forget the sound of a 3.2 Brison at the local flying field , the first time I heard one
Just had to go ask the owner what it was
A truly great experience , I can still remember

OK guys here is the response to my Email. Thomas,
Thank you for your inquiry.
Since the cylinder manufacturer increased the cost of the cylinder, we found that the engine is no longer cost competitive. Until we can find a more cost effective cylinder manufacturer, we are providing repair service and the spare parts to support our customers.
Best regards,
Arthur Leung

Thomas, if you are looking for an engine, every now and then Bill Jensen winds up with a refurbished one. Try him at

He usually warranties them for a year.

RE: Brison engines 3.2
I sure get a giggle everytime someone tries to convince me that my old school Brison engines are too heavy and too weak to keep up with the DA , DLE etc.. untill I fire one up and give a show of old school and see that surprised look on their faces.
Love them Brison's ,Run great and last forever . They have been the best investment in engines I have ever made . 4 - 3.2s ,2- 6.4s, 2-4.2s , 1-4.8 , 2-5.8s
