Thanks Bob, good to know. I usually use K-1 - Jet-A is smelly. As long as I can get one or the other, I'll leave the jugs empty for the climb through West-by-God...

Lewis,

Put me down for a 2X - James Smith, bringing the horn, you got some duets printed out?

All,

What's everybody got for the swap meet? Let's hear/see it!

Hey! And... ... ... happy 11 year anniversary for me and RCU today!
James,

I have you down for a 2X, and I'll try to dig up a good duet.

Lewis,

This is an FAQ, I'm sure, but Jet-A will be available onsite as usual, correct? Is it still pay with CC at the pump (i.e., available after hours)? Do you recall the approx. price - probably like $5.00 a gallon or thereabouts?

I'm thinking that is probably easier on my old-reliable tow vehicle to fill up the two 5-gallon fuel cans once I get there then to haul an extra 70 lbs over the mountains in WVA...

Bob
Bob,

We have plenty of Jet-A on site. You can use your card at the pump, and it's around 6.00 a gallon.

WDRD Channel 41 in Louisville, will be on hand Tuesday July 8th at 10am to interview staff and pilots. If you're late sleepers, try to get and make an appearance on television. This should bring even more spectotors to Lebanon for the event.

Radios...Radios...Radios...Radios

We have four Spektrum radios for our pilots. Two DX-18's, one DX-8, and one DX-7. Four pilots will go home with these fantastic systems. Jets Over Kentucky is the "Worlds Grandest Event", and we're excited to do great things for our pilots. Thanks to Horizon Hobby for the donation of one DX-18, and allowing us to purchace three for the event. More great prizes from Horizon will be available during the awards dinner.

Default RE: Jets Over Kentucky 2013

A week left until Kentucky Jets and I can't wait to hit the road to get there, I'm really looking forward to being back at Kentucky Jets.
Lewis has asked me to help take part in the event this year. Many of you know me as being at events covering for RCU, but this time around I won't be there for RCU. But rather I'll be there for Lewis!! Lewis initially asked me if I would come and be his photographer for the event and to produce the picture DVD that many of you purchase every year to remember the event by. I told him that I would love to do that for/with him. But after initially agreeing to do that it turned out that his normal source for getting video done won't be able to make it to the event this year because of some personal conflicts. So Lewis asked if I could do both for him, Pictures and Video from the event. I have told Lewis that I can take care of both of them for him.
I spent some time and talked with a few of the pilots that attend about the product in the past, and what could be done to improve on what you get when you purchase the event DVD's. I took what they thought were the good things, threw out what they thought were bad, and added a few things to hopefully give you a better end result and a good bang for your buck.
So here is what I have planned for you.
Picture DVD
In previous years you got a DVD that contained a slideshow with pictures from the event that were taken during the week. I plan on doing this as well this year. I don't know how many pictures it will contain right now, but I promise that I will put just as many pictures as the DVD will hold. I will be charging $25 for the Picture DVD. This price will include the cost of shipping it to you (which I understand was extra in years past). Also, for the price of the picture DVD I'll make available to you the pictures on that DVD in a higher quality suitable for printing. So if you want larger prints of your planes you won't have to pay extra for them. Once I see how many pictures there are I'll come up with the best way to make them available to you all.
Video DVD
For doing the video DVD I'll actually be working with Scott Stauffer from SKS Video to produce the video DVD. So I image they will end up with a similar look to the DVD's that Scott puts out. Once again, I plan on putting just as much video footage on the disk that it can hold so that you get the best bang for your buck. The cost of the Video DVD will also be $25 which will include the shipping as well. If you would like a Blu-ray disk that will cost and additional $2
Now, since I'm going to be doing both I plan on offering a discount if you want to purchase both DVD's. If you wish to purchase both DVD's they will be $45 ($47 if you want Blu-ray video). As with the singles, this cost will include shipping and the higher quality pictures for print. So here is what the total pricing will be:
    [*]Kentucky Jets Picture DVDre"> $25 (includes shipping)[*]Kentucky Jets Video DVDre"> $25 (includes shipping) Blu-ray disk $2 extra[*]Kentucky Jets Picture/Video DVD combo packre"> $45 (includes shipping ) Blu-ray disk $2 extra[/list]
All disks will be shipped by USPS Media pack.
Since I'm going to be at the event alone Lewis as told me that Shelly at the registration booth will help in the sales of these disks. So if you want to pre-order your DVD's you can see them at the registration booth. Or if you find me on the flight line I'll be more than happy to take care of you as well. Boli has offered me space in his tent to set up, so you can look for me there as well. I am set up to take your credit/debit cards for payment as well. I will be on site at the event starting on Monday the 8th and will be there all the way through Sunday. So you'll have plenty of time to catch me to pre-order. If you miss me at the event, or change your mind and want a disk later, I will be setting up a website to take orders on as well. You can always PM me here on RCU.
If anybody would like special sets of your planes or other special photography let me know and I'll see what I can do to accommodate you. My reason for being at Kentucky Jets is for you guys. I'm here to capture the best jet event in the country on video and pictures. And I'm really looking forward to doing that for you all.
Please feel free to PM me any questions you might have on this.
See you all in a week!!!!
    Ken

Might ease the pain a bit..

AirNav shows Jet-A at the Airport at $ 4.65gal. Last updated 6/20/13... Not too bad.

Cheers,

Danno
