Tri Village R/Cers Pattern Contest, June 29-30, 2013
Hi all!
I figured I'd start a thread for the upcoming Hoffman Estates contest next weekend as I haven't seen any chatter about it either on here or on the NSRCA mailing list. After finally getting out and flying some to make the determination that I wouldn't totally embarrass myself, I feel that I would be comfortable making a return to pattern competition after a nearly four-year layoff. I'm very excited and fired up about flying pattern again, and looking forward to a great contest. I'll be attempting to fly Masters with the Oxai Splendor (with the all-new E-flite Power 180 brushless outrunner for power) that Quqiue is graciously loaning me this year. The launch of this motor has been pretty quiet, but I am looking forward to getting some people's reactions to it. Quique was the major driving force behind the design and it's a pretty incredible piece of machinery. I will see if I can snag an extra one for people to be able to examine, but I think it is a great value at $299.99 MAP compared to some of the other options out there in the market.

Now that I'm done with my little speal, who will be in attendance, and what will you be flying? Will there be power out at the field? Is there any sort of pre-registration?
This will be my first contest (other than a few NATS many moons ago) out of my home district of D2, but I have spectated at the St. Charles, Illinois contest last year and really enjoyed watching as D5 has a stellar group of flyers and gentlemen and I'm looking forward to actually being a participant now. I am hoping to drag a friend from North Carolina up to fly with me as well who has defected to IMAC as of late, but has started getting the pattern bug back.
I'm looking forward to seeing everyone next week!
Best regards,
Ryan

My son Sean and I will be there. One of the best contests of the year in this area. You picked a good place to make a comeback! That said, when you're amongst the Chicago RC crowd, NEVER underestimate your ability to embarrass yourself. I've learned that the hard way...

Looking forward to it myself, will be the first one of the season for me. I'll be staying at the LaQuinta across the street from our friday night watering hole "The Assembly"!

I'm assuming Dave Snow and me, and probably Dan will make the trip hopefully. Possible Dusty? Not sure who else may come.

Mark do you mean Rusty? He's taking a break. I can't wait for him to get going again. He's a blast.
Sounds great guys we really look forward to hosting the contest.
F3AUnlimited.com will be donating a new in the box Monolog 70 to be raffled off to all the contestents and the volunteer workers.

Bobby has arranged for us to have dinner at the Assembly (Bionic Burgers) on Friday pm and the Lucky Monk on Saturday night. Both places are really great.
The hotels are within one mile of the field and very reasonable.
So far we are expecting a pretty good attendance.
Thanks and have a great day, Mike

Rusty Doze, Dusty Rose, is there a difference?? I can't blame my typing, it was my brain that was dyslexic.

Great Jim we will have a decent amount of Sportsman fliers. Please introduce yourself when you get here and let us know if there is any help we can provide. Thanks, Mike Mueller

I spoke with Jim Fassino a few days ago and he told me he is planning to attend, as well as Joe Lang. Very exciting as the Peoria group are a passionate bunch of talented modelers. I'm counting down the days!

I love the Peoria guys too Ryan. Jim is a really neat guy.
There contest will be held on August 17th and 18th.
Here's a link to their club.
The Peoria field is superb.

This year there contest will feature a Club Class for true beginners. We also have somegood prizes coming fromSig and F3AUnlimited.com to sweeten the interest.
So at this point a good estimate says we are getting near the 30 flier mark for the Tri Village bash. Bobby will be really happy about that.

Wow! Nice come back Ryan,
That Plane must fit you well! looks like QQ designed another good flier.

Ryan was with Joey Hayes who drove up from North Carolina to be ther with Ryan. Both guys had notcompeted in a pattern contest in over 4 years.
Danny Landis brought a new person he works with from Hobbico Chris who won in intermediatte and it was his first pattern contest. All in all we had 31 fliers.
the weather was challenging with at times 30MPH direst crosswinds blowing out.
Great contest Bobby thanks for running it.
The one pic is frompractice on Thursday before the contest. It was tough to find the time to get in any decent flights. Tons of rain wind and cool weather up here this year.
