Hello Kirk
Can you post photos of your flap linkage?
Hello Kirk
Can you post photos of your flap linkage?
I haven't gotten to that stage yet but should be making up the linkages this weekend. I'll post photos.

Too bad you can't make Princeton Kirk. My viper is ready, no paint yet, but it has some sweet monokote trim sheets for a little color ;-)
Dantley, be cool to meet you if you make it up to Whidbey. I would love to have you look over the Mig.

Looking forward to seeing your Viperjet all dressed up and ready for the dance.

The reason I asked is I was having issues with the standard control horn, I was getting a large amount of slop and the flap didn't seem to hold when the servo was powered up.
So I decided to go with an internal linkage which provided a better mechanical advantage.

Paul, are you going to Whidbey this year? I am going to try and make it.

Here's my dilemma. Wife's 50th birthday and our 25th are on that weekend. (Ya, I know, not that smart to have those 2 so close) She's been REALLY good about my jet habit and I don't want to give her a reason to change that. She loves wine so we'll be down your way in Napa that weekend.
Too bad as I Saw you are finishing off the Tutor. We had three up together last year at Princeton which was outstanding. Dean W, Alan B and maybe Kevo will be there with theirs. Would be cool to add yours to the formation.

You can test the "dust buster" at BITW . I'll try to have a spare one just in case []

RE: Skymaster 2M Viperjet Build
The exhaust cone opening needed to be larger than the one supplied with the kit so I made a new one. I made a mold and used one layer of 2 oz glass, one layer of carbon fiber and two layers of 2 oz glass. I had a sheet of titanium so I used it to cover the exterior of the exhaust. The sheet was a little thicker than flite metal and it was glued to the cone with silicon.

Yesterday I was able to get some photos of the Viperjet in the sun. Weather permitting, the maiden is scheduled for next weekend.

RE: Skymaster 2M Viperjet Build
The Viper had its maiden flight on Sunday. I was high and making an down wind turn coming in for a gear pass when the motor gave up the ghost and it snapped on landing. The snap was my fault as I was trying to extend the approach past the emergency cables on the runway. The snap occurred about 5 feet from the cables.

Thanks guys. At this time I don't know if the airframe is repairable. When I got it home I set it aside and will go back in a couple of weeks to take a look at it. If I do repair it, I would most likely put a turbine in it because I wouldn't want it any heavier as an EDF.

Kirk sorry to see this happen. It takes a big person to post a video like this.

Hi Kirk, Sorry to see the loss of your Viper. I saw the video and was quite impressed by the turbine sound. I thought that was a turbine until I read your posts. This might make me fly EDF if someone can figure out how to create the kero smell.
