Everybody out there said leave the 4 blade on. It looks great and flies scale like it should. I'm worried about not having power to get out of trouble if its needed.  I'll fly again next week with the 2 blade. Maybe I will get some video.

Stay out of trouble and leave the 4 blade on, or go with the 2 blade and get crazy

Well I got 3 more flights today. The 2 blade 22x10 pulls better, but not that much more.  Also had a dead stick landing, for a 28# plane it floats well. This is the second time the motor quit on the third flight of the day.   Going to move my ignition battery from the bottom of the motor box to inside the fuse. Also might try a new ignition.

Congrats!
What is your thoughts on the battery? You think it's getting too hot?

I'm fixin to buy one of these for my DLE30, tired of all the problems.

I'm thinking it might be. It's on the bottom of the motor box behind the muffler. But the voltage checks out fine.  Just can't figure out why it's always 3 flights. The former that the tail wheel bolts to also cracked, and I never landed hard. Should have a decent video up tomorrow.

Here is a link to the video.  If somebody can embed it that would be great. I'm thinking my motor issue is fuel related because every time it has sputtered before quitting.  I liked building this plane so much I just ordered the Ziroli P61 black widow kit.

Gary..... I just now thought to check this thread as i have been following Tony's build on RCG's. It was great seeing you and James here in waco. I really enjoyed spending a little time talking with you guys and watching ya'll fly. Sorry to here about your flat tire, but im glad it didn't ruin your day. I've got a question for anyone who cares to give me their two cents.... When shaping the aileron leading edges.... Did you, (A) Bevel them sharply or (B) Did you go with a rounded profile ? Im kinda to the point where i need to decide and just wondered what you all may have done. Thanks, and great looking planes everyone.... Tony, im waiting for your next installment.

Hey Paul,

I went with the beveled LE like the plans call for. I think Tony has rounded the LE on all the surfaces and created hinge pockets.

Depending on the weather, I may see you next weekend for the Big Bird up in Waco, I bunch of us here in Austin are tossing around the idea of going up. But if it's going to be 107 degrees, I'm for sure not going.

Morning guys, hows everyone this holiday weekend........ Been plugging away at mine here and there, got the top of the wing glassed and doing the fillets on the fuse.. I am really liking the Ezekote, the finish is coming out great and it couldn't be any easier....

Heading to the field this morning, the weather up here is nice, but the dang nats are so bad you have to put a drier sheet in your hat to keep them at bay.. They should be gone in a couple more weeks, I hope...

107' Some years that would be a coldfront.... Thanks for the quick response. The plans do call for a bevel but im thinking a rounded profile would be easier. Im going to contemplate it for a bit longer and probably just bevel them anyway.... Thanks again.

Well, Look what the dang cat dragged in!

Heading to the field this morning too. I plan on flight #6 today. In case I drive all the way to Waco next Saturday, I want to see how she runs this weekend.
We'll see what the wind is like when I get there. It always turns cross right after I get all set up.

PM Tony if you want to do the pockets, he's real good at those since this is the umpteenth plane that he has done that on.

Hey Guys,
Hope everyone had a good 4th. Spent the last few days glassing and getting
the fuselage ready for primer.

Tony, great job explaining in pics. I rounded my surfaces but did it a bit different.
I like your way better.

Built a stand so I could rotate for prime & Paint.

Cheers,
Mike

Mike, looking good! I use a rotating stand for glassing, sanding and painting also, only way to get the whole thing done in one shot. I'm getting ready to prime and sand the first coat, then hit it again, assemble the plane and test fly it for a while before I do the finishing.
