Charles, you did a good progress with the fuselage.
I´ve just seen your work in CAD. Are you able to make a rivets for your Mig-3?

I have a source to get them in Europe and another guy in the USA. Found them in a Thread on RCU.
Hey! Where else!!
I will, however, make some surface detail that won't beat up my cutter. Same kind of layering like I did for the cockpit side, floor and rear pieces. Just thick vinyl.
For the rudder, elevator, flap "aileron" area, and some fuselage areas. I may just make the vinyl in "reverse" and use a build-up primer, then remove the masks. this I've done a few times before.

Sorry, but I guess the reason I mentioned the fin/rudder, is that it appears to be completely the wrong shape. Maybe it does not matter, but it looks more like a Nobler than a Mig 3 in the tail!

Thanks for the link, that's absolutely a great site. I have it in my favorites and have used it many times over the months.
Yes, you are correct, looks kinda like a Nobler, but certainly it doesn't look like a Mig-3's tail and rudder.
The reason is, as I explained in the Thread, was, the Mig-3 idea came about long after the lines of the model were drawn, designed and built.
Sure, I could change the rudder AND the stab/elevator, but what about those square wing tips, they are incorrect also. So is the wing aspect ratio and the taper. Not to mention the placement in the center of the fuselage.
This is a fun model that evolved into a Mig-3.
I do have CAD drawings in the works, for a true outline Mig-3, but undecided as to the size.
You have a good eye and must know your aircraft.

Igot to say that I love the idea of a "fun" model! I understand that building scale is one kind of fun (and I aspire to the skills to build true scale myself someday), but it is also good to see that there is still room for a more relaxed approach too. Regardless of the true accuracy, your attention to detail and craftsmenship are truely impressive.

It is about having fun! Glad you realize that.
Hey! I know Hartford really well. I'm actually from NE.
Thanks for the reply.

Some added photos of the scale Mig-3 cockpit to date.
Still a ways to go.
Charles
Can't get a photo on, I'll try later!

Hello Charles. It looks like a making a scale cockpits is could be your job!
This one is very nice.
Finally I´ve done my La-5 FN, now she is waiting for a maiden flight. After them I will buy some scale pilot.

About my spinner? I draw a 3D model in Audesk Inventor. It was the first step.
After them, my friend made a steely model of the spinner for the fibreglass form.
And the last step was a making the fibreglass spinner.
Some other question?

Prekin,
What about the base? Turned on a lathe?
Why not just use the aluminum one?
I thought you spun it?
Outstanding!!

I used an aluminium base, which I had at home. It was a part of package of some other fibreglass spinner. http://www.topmodelcz.cz/index.php?&...nu_eshop_id=25

I've been busy and haven't had a chance to Post. Now I'll Post my progress with the Mig-3.
I changed the rudder but cannot change the wing. As I said, the model didn't start out as a Mig-3.

Changed the rudder, covered the wings, fitted the OS LA .46 CL and the custom made tank. Close to detailing and paint.
