Jimmy, you and Ollie must have gotten together and done a bad luck transfer onto me. So far this year 2 totaled airplanes and one badly damaged. At this point it's 75% repaired but will need a complete paint job on the fuse and wing will need complete new covering. Tryng to make the 14th but not sure at this point.

Speed, I have total confidence in you having it ready by game day. You are the man Speed. You can do it.

Sorry Speed and Dave . . . Sucks, doesn't it?! Nearly a plane a race for the last 3 years about did me in! I'd like to think I've more than done my time living with "the Curse." I'm just hoping my luck holds and I'm finally over it for awhile. Maybe Wingman can get creative and come up with some sort of "Bad Juju" Voodoo routine when he safeties our planes the morning of?

Don't mean to be sappy, but even through the tough losses, there was still no place I'd rather be than with all of you during race weekend.

I really hope you and the family make it on the 14th, Shawn.

Ollie

I'm in the same boat, rushing to get my plane fixed after the mid-air last race. I was hoping to have a whole new plane built for the 14th but now I'm just trying to get the new wing finished and hopefully find some time to get a trim flight in before the race. The bad thing is I'll be out of town all next week so if I don't get it done by Monday I'll be SOL. Granted I'm talking about a freeking ARF, not a custom built masterpiece like a lot of you have.

I have a blast out there though, so I'll get it done!

Well as it stands the fuse is sanded down to primer. I need to fix a few dings and then a mist coat of primer and will be ready for paint when it shows. As long as I can do the spraying by weds I will be ok. All I have done to the wing is remove the bad areas. The wing tips are ready to be glued on but are about 3 hours worth of sanding. The gear blocks were messed up so Im going to make some composite legs much the same as the Q40 guys do. I figure about 20 hours labor at this point.

Well I know about bad luck and building planes. I am still trying to get over my Ghost but I really would like to win a gold race I have bin trying since 1996 and it’s a tough thing to do but more important to me is the camaraderie of all the competitors and the life long friends I have made at the Sams field.

Well looks like I should make it. Wing is ready to cover and all I need to do is block down the final primer coat on the fuse and it's ready for paint. Paint will be here on Wends, airplane will be ready on Fri including a freshly rebuilt Rossi .45. Ive gone 4 years on the same piston and liner, time for a refresh.

It has been so long since you have raced do you even know how to do it? Remember that the pointy part with the thingy going around very fast goes in the front and that it will make a scary loud noise and smoke, but don't be afraid that is what it is supposed to do. You may need a refresher course newbie!
