Phil - And many more, old man!
Rebinding the Flymentor 450 did nothing so next is a new model as Ivan suggested.
I wish the wind would stop for a little while! The new heli keeps calling to me but not w/ gusts to 30MPH!

Good to hear Phil.
Scott, I did not order a cart. Probably should though. LOL

Ivan,
Yup... If you're still planning on bringing a moho to the event and staying at site 3... you could end up making your Thursday - Sunday stay an exercise event!

RE: Struggling with single rotor basics V2
But then the wind & rain stopped! So I grabbed the new FBL & put two packs through it w/ the new pinion. I also tweaked the expo a bit & then I found the cr@ppy plastic canopy was touching the main gear. I managed to deform it enough to finish flying but I'll need to look for a permanent solution.
I was pretty nervous so I kept the flights very simple!
I also analized my piros & realized that they mostly go up & down too & it depends on the direction. So I assumed my scarred left thumb was having troubles. I thought about it awhile & then remembered the sticks on the Tx are adjustable. So I shortened the left one as short as it would go & today was the first time I tried. Jury is out on results!

And then to test the RC gods, I grabbed the Chinese trainer & went to the school & put three packs through it w/o incident! Life is good....

Hey Chuck,
Stick tension is adjustable in both axis', as well. It's pretty easy with a DX8. You just pull off the rubber grip pads and adjust through the body of the transmitter with a small screw driver. The manual tells you what screw adjusts what. In my case, I've got the tendency to add rudder when Ipush the collective hard, so I tightened the rudder movement some to keep the stick going straight up and down.

I have the same issue too Chuck. Doing a piro and keeping perfect altitude is tough. The stick just moves up and down so easy.

Scott - thanks for the info. I believe the 7S has tension control as well. That should help a lot!
I'm liking the shorter stick too. It helped fly the planks smoother too!

Ivan - the idiots were shooting fireworks until the early morning so I didn't get much sleep. Too groggy to even think about flying yesterday - just wandered around in a stooper! LOL
I did get out his morning but did you start to fly & know you really shouldn't be??? The mCP X took a beating but still flyable. I did do one pack in the 300X to test the short stick piros!
I really love how stable the 300x is! I can do hands off for ten seconds even in a little breeze! That BeastX does good things!
I thought about taking a plank out but decided against it as it's a bit breezy now.
Scott - on call but still able to play and/or fly????? Speaking of Area 51 in honor of the 4th I was watching Independence Day last night. Great flick...

RE: Struggling with single rotor basics V2
Yeah... I got out for a bit... I got a trim flight on my Rush with Vortex. I've been neglecting that, but today it is dead calm. It's interesting... one would think a trim flight would be to trim out for hover discrepancies, but it's not... it's for piroetting compensation. As long as CG is right, the damn thing piros completely flat! Amazing stuff.
Ilove Independance Day. "Welcome to Earth!" < thwack> Ivan posted on the who's going to IRCHAthread... made me laugh. Area 51.
I'm thinking about picking up a Blade 130X next week for messing around in the back yard and learning some new stuff. Ijust can't get used to the cyclic on my mCPX.
So, no calls today! Let's hope it stays that way. Last time, Iwas up for 36 hours straight.

Scott - that's good to hear you had some fun while "working". I heard mixed things about the 130X. Let us know what you think (too bad you didn't buy it last week I could have saved you 15%).
Finally remembered to put together a short vid of the new boat. Check out the vid of the old one to see the difference!

Then I threw a 3S in the boat & it was a rocket, except the camera was pointed too high & all you can see are the rooster tails once in awhile! LOL The batteries (2200mAH, 30C) were very hot & only lasted 3 minutes. Time to get some new ones & really big ones!

Scott - wait until you see it running under 3S! I'm looking at alternate lagoons! Lombard has serveral & a couple of retention ponds. I'm also thinking w/ the 3S maybe the prob won't be as bad?
However, my LHS failed again! I ordered the SST prop from them & it was supposed to be here last week & nothing. Back to the web for results!
I'll be visiting the flying field at "On Top of the World" this weekend. I'm sorry I can't bring something to fly while I'm there.

RE: Struggling with single rotor basics V2
Ivan,
I don't know how much experience you've got in motorhoming, so if I what I'm gonna write now is a bit on the obvious side, please excuse me. I'm just excited about getting to IRCHA.
1. Water. We're filling our water tank and water heater prior to leaving; that will give us 90 gallons. It should last until Thursday. AMA has water available and I'll let you know before you leave if water is available at site 3, else I know there's potable water at the dumping station.
2. The reason I'm filling up with water before leaving is this: Water quality. Our first time out, the water at the campground was really hard and had a lot of rust in it. So, I bought a two stage water filter (Metal Trap Ultra) that I'll be using when we refill at IRCHA. I don't know what the motor home you're bringing has with respect to filtration, but if it has a filtering system, you may want to make sure the filter(s) are in good shape prior to leaving. My wife couldn't stand the water at the campground.
3. Dumping. There is a dump station on site at AMA. We're using a chemical in our black tank called RV Digest It. It's a natural enzyme system that really works. It will also clean the level sensors inside the tank so you don't get surprised when you go to flush. We've never had a stank problem, either. It liquifies waste/toilet paper, etc., so when you dump, your tank gets really empty. I anticipate having to dump Thursday, as well. That's based on our use during the four times we've been out this year. Depending on use and your tank capacities, you'll likely have to dump only when you leave. I say likely because we don't travel any kind of distance with the black tank full.
That's about it.
Scott
