Disco, is returning the model back to FEJ even an option?

One more thing... (I speaking too much )
After looking at FEJ website I don't understand why they have changed the setup they used in the past,
to the current

i can't speak for fej, but i think the answer is simple. Business always try to improve.
Dub-the picture was just a mock up not the real servo or arm. if you refering to the jet, that was not my jet, but its been flying for years as is.

RE: FEJ: 1/6 F-18 Twin Turbine Thread
Guys, I am about to receive my plane, 1/6 scale. I was very concerned after reading all this post but I decided to make a project out of it and make it work. I aways loved bug planes, had 50 % and one 60% on the way gas from BH. I love jets, fly them for a leaving and sell them in Brazil as well.
As a pilot I like planes that in real life are animals, real jet fighters. Never been a big fan of the sissy jet trainers, Bae Hawk, L39 and all the trainers. They are easy to fly but I think this F18 with its size It should not be a hand full.
Any way, as for the fluttering problems I have seen, I will have to look at mine first but one thing that I have not seen anybody try is, after you surgically get the servo in can you make a full underneath support with wood, using hysol between the servo tray and the fuselage? Just a though!
I know it will take some time but it will be a great pleasure seen this bird fly!!

Update,
FEJ just sent me all the wood ribs for the fuse. I will resume building the jet shortly, haven't decided if I will replace the the ribs or just strengthen them with carbon fiber.

Why bother they just gave a guy another f-15 because was all dorked up, why spend all that money just to cut up the jet and rebuild it?

If you want a F18 of this size there is no other option. You can find Bae Hawks, L39 or Viper Jets, huge size but again they are trainers in real life, they don't interest me, I want a fighter Jet!

Actually I don't think you need to, I just finished up layering mine with carbon fiber and west epoxy, its strong as an anvil now, I'll upload pics tomorrow. The only ribs that are honey comb are the rudder railing ribs.

There is no manual for this, yes I had a lot of missing part, had to fight with fej for about 4 months to get everything, but they did send everything inlcuding a full Plywood Rib kit, enough to build an entire fuse, however, looking at the ribs, really the only thing I think that would need to be replaced would be the rudder ribs, the rest either really doesn't need to be replaced and isn't load bearing, i.e. the retracts e.t.c. are all ply wood.
I'm extremely busy with work setting up a new data center in Dallas Tx, informart, we need to install a ton of servers so thats taking up all the time for me, will post pics soon.

Thanks Disco, its really frustrating when you are stuck in a project. My flap set up is for one servo and it came with only one Horn, I wish it was a 2 servo set up, I like redundancy. Will take some pictures tomorrow.
I am planning on 2 of the new M140X, best power to weight ratio. Servos will be 8911 for ailerons, rudder and nose, Hitec HS7990 for elevator and flaps, simce on my it seams like they both came single servo setup.
no servo tray for the elevator set up, dont know if they also missed or a different setup.

I just installed a JR8911 just to see how it would look like with the direct drive. The servo moves a lot, I would need a steel frame servo like the Graupner and a carbon fiber frame. The direct drive path its not coincident with the path FEJ made on the fuselage. I just do not trust this system, will install it on the Slats just to see how it looks as well.

OMG, you guys are cray. I mean wow.
Wap, you seem like such a reasonable guy with this build as well!
All your great equipment at such a risk in that airplane.
As far as we know, only prop R/C airplanes have killed humans, but this one is right in line to be one of the first jets to do so!

power aviation did you Hard mount the servo or use the gromets? Also did you file down the line in the of the servo or cut a line for the wedge on the servo?
I installed the 7980 on the elevator, it was hard mounted and did not move, this was filed down wedge on each of the tabs.

I am going to use hydraulics on everything but brakes, I had a F18 from skymaster and the air leaks were a nightmare, too many doors and T's. I did a Carf Tucano with Hydraulic, after some twiking had NO problems ever really love it.
