A 4x8 sheet of plywood -I think your gonna need a bigger ???? the main gear just makes it on 4 foot ,the tail sticks out a foot or more .This is one large airplane ..It will have it's own movable parking spot kind of a display case on wheels -

Is there some kind of -rule or a bunch of red tape to get a number for an r/c airplane -what number can a person put on the side of the plane do you get a number from the eaa ? faa ? ama ? with an airframe this size =there must be some kinda rule or do you use your girlfreinds birth day -what is up with all this ???the airplanes you buy at the store have decals that have numbers on them -does that mean there are 5000 airplanes with the same number ???? So confused -I don't know if I want a number ,but I would like to know these things ...

If you are building from a full scale, use the NC number thay have. Might ask permission first.

Some people will us NC and birthdate

Some people will use NC and AMA number.

If competeing in a scale contest you need to use the full scale number as shown in your docmentation.

Hope this helps.

There is no rule, you can put whatever you want on the side of your airplane. And yes, if you purchase a ready to fly airplane yours will have the exact same number as the other 5000 that are flying around out there.

Default "Pie Chaser"

Chad, how are you? Long time no see. I'm still flying at ARCS but we are looking at a high tention power line less than 200 feet from end of runway that will be up by Jan 1st 2015. We wonder if we can live with it? Re the Tri Pacer.... My dad &I flew the full scale one in Arizona back in 1960. He always called it the "Pie Chaser." It makes a great scale model. My first full scale airplane was a 1949 Piper PA-16. It is the fore-runner to the "Pacer," a tail wheel fore-runner to the Tri (tricicyle gear) Pacer. Sound confusing? Not really. memory serves correct, the Lockhaven, PA Piper factory flooded in late 1948 or 49 and they were about to develop the Pacer & Tri Pacer but rushed up development of the PA-16. The PA-16 called the "Clipper," was 4 place, stick control, unlike the other two, 108 hp and no flaps. Mine was modified to 135 HP, and 49 gallons of fuel. In Alaska they say you can't have too much gas unless you are on fire! At 7.5 gallons per hour bringing along a P-can was advisable. I once flew it from Fairbanks to way north of the Arctic Circle for 5 hours and 45 minutes. True story, before landing on a gravel bar on the Junjick river I filled a quart thermos and dropped it over the side, ala "The Gods Must Be Crazy!" Anyway. great project and I will continue to watch. May try one myself in R/C some day. I have a 80 inch J-3 cub on fooats and a Carbon Cub on floats that I just flew at the Lake Havasu, AZ R/C float fly in Nov... Be well Merry Christmas to all, wallace.tharp

Bill. Plans were from Wendel Hostetler. 1/3 scale Piper Tri-Pacer. Wingspan = 118" DLE-60 twin for power. Approx. wgt = 32 lb. Lots of mods were done to the build, to make it more "scale". John R.

Truly a beautiful aircraft, I'd be interested in some of the mods that were done if you don't mind sharing them. Now that I am retired I may be
able to get around to building this one. Again what a truly gorgeous rendition of the Tri-Pacer.

Wow- that is great -with wheel pants -fiberglas ?? sure is beautiful -nice work -is that a paint job or mono-kote ... looks like a lot of work -thank you for the pic .The only thing new here is - a new 48 inch propeller ...and all the engines cost a whole lot of money - just slows things down a bit -wanted to build around the engine - don't want to rebuild & repair ..ok what else? anybody got something on the workbench ???

RLT, I didn't realize the size of your project, until the pics of it on the transport trailer. It's huge! Do you have a Quick change set-up, for L.G. to floats? John R.

Yes -couple bolts to remove mains-the nose gear strut unthreads -but it takes two people -I've done it myself --awkward to say the lease--floats have pipe wall clamps that bolt to the fuselage.. The.Size -in the one pic that is a 4'x8' piece of plywood that is painted now and on the trailer--- --- -It is pretty cute ..
