Default Capitol Jets-The Last Hurrah!

CAPITOL JETS – THE LAST HURRAH! July 19-20-21, 2013

The final Capitol Jets is coming up quickly.

This year the event will be closed to the public for your extended flying enjoyment!

We plan on 3 days of non-stop flying with extended hours and no interruptions other than full scale & life flight helicopters.

Flying hours will be 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. on Friday, 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. on Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

As mentioned above, we will not have any spectators, and no scheduled food vendors for the daytime activities, so plan accordingly for breakfast and lunch. There are several sandwich and coffee shops close by.

We WILL have porta-johns, Jet-A fuel available at north end of runway, and kerosene within a couple of miles from the field.
Access into the flying site will be by gated entry and you will be provided the access code prior to the event.

The Capitol Jets website is not updated and will be shut down soon, so look here on RC Universe for any updates and access code prior to coming to Albany.

TENT RENTALS: We have already inquired with Rob Buehler at Tri-City rentals to hold several tents for our event. If you want a tent you must contact Rob to make final arrangements and payment directly with him.

To place your tent order – contact:

Rob Buehler
Tri-City Tent Rentals LLC
518-356-2065

As a token of appreciation for your many years of loyalty over the last nine years of Capitol Jets, we plan to have pot luck dinners both Friday and Saturday evening.

Karen and I will provide the burgers, dogs, and sausage for Friday evening; everyone please bring a side dish to share.

Saturday evening we will be providing London Broil – again please bring a dish to share.

Most of the Jet Pit Chicks have spoken about the festivities at Highland Jets and Plum Island.

For further information, you may contact Karen at [email protected].

Hi Doug,
Glad to hear you guys will make it for the last "Hurrah".
How you guys manage to balance this and the grandkids is beyond me! Hope for great weather, and lots of good eats to boot.
Take care,
Frank

Hi Frank,

Look forward to the finalé event...super flying site and good times!

Not to impose, but will you be making an event ad/poster for us Canadians to show US Customs and Border Protection as proof of the event when we cross the border into the US with all our stuff?...they can be paranoid at times (or we look suspicious!).

Doug B: Most of us stay at the Comfort Inn at Glenmont.

See you guys there!

Cheers,

Jeff

Jeff,
I've asked Frank to update the flyer or the website to produce a poster to show USCustoms at our border crossing. I don't have any of the artwork or access to the website or I'd do it myself. We'll get something out on this. The website url is: www.capitoljets.com but I've hit a virus while trying to go there. I've asked that our webmaster correct this and update the flyer. Looking forward to seeing you and our fellow northern jet pilots at this final event.

Hello Jet fans,

21 days until the last Capitol Jets!

For those who are looking for a flyer to cross the US/Canadian border, we have not published one this year as this is a closed event. However, if you send me a PM I will attach a copy of the official AMA sanction, which includes the dates, title and location of the event, which should suffice for customs/border inquiry.

For those who want tents, they are going quickly and our contact has only heard from one person (Brian Lloyd), so get them while you can!

For those looking for hotels nearest to the airfield, we recommend the Comfort Inn on Rt 9W (4 miles from site) - in fact someone already posted the link to that hotel above.

Any other questions or concerns, reply here, or PM me, or reach me at [email protected]

Spread the word to those who may not see our posts here as no flyer or official media announcement will be made.

As a reminder, our Website has been decommissioned!

See you all soon.
Frank

Hey Big Bri, John P, or Square Nozzle, I am toying with thoughts of an F22 for a winter project.  Any possibility of any of you bringing a manual along to South Albany ?  I am sure you have lots of stories as well.  Looking for suggestions and thoughts about it.

See you all there in a couple of weeks.  No grandchildren coming now to interrupt my flying !   :-)

Hi Doug. Congrats on the latest grandchild! I bought my f22 RTF . No manual. But Bob Segroi may have one. I will ask him! My F22 is one of my Favorites! Putting vectored thrust in now!

Hey folks
,
Your probably asking ???

How to get in the gate?

Stay to the right as you enter the airport lot, then drive right up to the keypad located just prior to the security gate. When there your picture will be taken and
vehicle sensors will activate.

On the security gate keypad, use 5387. It spells the word JETS on your phone keypad too!

This tempo code will work beginning Thursday 18 July, then terminate, Monday 22 July.

Please drive very carefully as there are active helicopter, and fixed wing activity present.

See you there,
Frank

In support of Frank's airport directions, attached is a Google image of the South Albany airport showing the referenced Security gate entrance and the route from that entrance to the Pits set-up area for those who have not previously attended this event. Please drive slowly and with caution thru the aircraft parking and hangar area. Stop and Yeild to any operating aircraft. Thank you

Hi Bob,

It's not likely as it is undergoing several needed upgrades as it is 18 years old now as is really showing it's age. If I can find the time to pull it together and button it up, I will ...no promises however.

Look forward to seeing you next week.

Best Regards,
Kerry S.
