Default Some pictures of my FOUGA ARF project.

I have been working on my Philip Avonds "Fouga" for the last 14 month.

It is not only a wonderful kit, but an engineering masterpiece with no doubt.

Building has been an enjoyable challenge. Not easy, but extremely rewarding.

Gerardo, my son, suggested that I post a few pictures of the building progress. So, here we go ...

Very impressive, I saw one fly at the first Desert Storm jet meet in Phoenix years ago love it, the owner was a member of that club.

We are so fortunate to have Jack Jr ( Gerardo ) here in the SF bay area, he is very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful all the time [&:]

My favorite feature has to be the internal linkage for the ailerons.

Has to be seen in person to believe it works. It is a mechanical puzzle

I have built and flown several Philip Avonds jets over the years. Each kit was a masterpiece in simplicity and function. His design techniques keeps everything simple and his jets all fly wonderfully. His product service is the best! I highly recommend PA for for a good build and a great flying jet.

Hi Jack

I have been wanting one of those for a long time. But, it would probably take me 14 years to get where you are in 14 months. It looks great.

Really getting lazy putting together ARFs Jack!!
Nobody wants to build anymore!!
This Arf looks like it goes together really fast!
Id say good job but since its nearly been finished for you I guess I should say nice job with the "assembly" LOL!
Its awesome Jack, cant wait to see it in person!

Thanks a lot to all of you guys for the positive and encouraging comments. They are a big part of the reward we get for the effort that these type of project demands.

At present, I am in the finishing process ... painting, burning rivets, making panels, weathering, etc. etc.
I expect the final rig up to begin in about one month or so.
I haven't done any work on the cockpit. That will take some time also.

Hope to be ready for maiden by september / october.
Then, a lot of learning flights to prepare for Top Gun 2014.

The equipment I am using is:

Radio: Spektrum 12 channels receiver; JR8411 servos all around; Powerbox iGyro; DX18 transmitter. Everything has been programed already as the build progresses.
For pneumatics: Jet Central sequencer; UP valve for gear and nose door; Robart valve for main doors; Jetronics valve for brakes.
Light system: Emcotec @ 3.7 volts.
Turbine: Kingtech 100G.
Batteries: 2 x Duralite LiFe 6.6v. No regulator.
Landing gear: Philip Avonds
Paint: DuPont Chroma System.

I will post some pictures as things get ready

Thanks again

Jack

Thanks Jack,

That model has an awful lot of moving parts. I especially love the way you can make doors and hatches fit, with a nice small but even gap between surfaces.

Really very inspiring, and something to emulate..

Thanks

I'm not getting any closer than 10' to that plane. I cant imagine how I would feel if I even scratch it after all that work. Let alone having to repair it!!! hahaha
