I normally Fly 1/3 scale planes at midnight in total darkness ,No lights what so ever . I just use the flying siloette of the aircraft and sound of the 81 cc engine ! Alot of Fun !

Billy..........how are you going to "top" yourself this year?......

How about totally "blind-folded" standing on a bucket with 1 leg?....yep that should do it........

Cant wait to see ya... Kernal Clink!

We are going to have a good time..

Its great to see a club that works so hard for the love of flying and fellowship with friends.

Our club could use some pointers from you guys.

Enjoy

Get one or two of your flying buddies, load up your transport and come on over here and join in on the fun.......the Ohio Dawn Patrol is a great venue, presented to the modeling public with the modeler in mind.......they are great hosts, the ODP group and the Cincinnati Aeromodelers!

It only takes a couple of guys with a bit of enthusiasm to make an impact!

Cheers,
Art

http://www.bealmear.com/dawn_patrol

this is how it all started for the Hoosier Dawn Patrol group, which infected (er, I mean affected) the Ohio Dawn Patrol and so on and on it goes.....

This is "Mission Oriented Flying" at its best!

Both are 1/3 scale models. The DR1 was designed and built by Herman Cholewinski. The Pup is a Balsa USA kit, built by Greg Hahn and flown by me, King Arthur.
This has got to be one of my favorite pictures EVER (because I have the cat bird's seat in this exchange).

You'll have to go to the RC Dawn Patrol site and look at a "Tale of Two Planes" for the picture.......(I can't seem to find it on my computer)

BECAUSE you have one of the best WWI pilots EVER!...in your cockpit.....You will have full exemption and you can fly anytime!.....
LOL, You can't fool me Paul. That's what you told this poor fellow, downed by Billy at midnight!

Jim,
That pic is what I was talking about........the little ''baby'' planes are allowed BUT I would wait until there is no ''Man-sized'' planes in the air........
That was my ''CD's''(Lee McDuffy).........''Alby flee'' that got ''run over'' in some ''man-size'' traffic.......

I'm sure all us Fokkers will yield to you and go thru you......I MEAN AROUND YOU! LOL!!!

HPA

Paul,
I have to ask, has your executive contest committee selected the winner of this year's traveling trophy? The suspense is building.... drum roll....

I keep thinking of more questions... Will there be any electrical outlets to use for charging? Or does a person need to bring their own generator, or car batteries to recharge off of?

Yes there are plenty of outlets for charging and also overnight storage inside their maintenance building.

Paul,

Do you have any kind of balancing rig there that I can use for the DH-2? If not I can bring one but it has to be hung from a beam in the building. I will bring lead shot and epoxy too. I think I will need it!

We have several beams in the hanger and if we need anything else home depot is right down the street!

Jim, If a rig is a problem you can always use THIS method as an alternative. It's written in German but Google translate should do the job. It's also a very good method. Weight your model and put all the measurements in the exel form and the answer is given to you.

Have a good Dawn Patrol guys

Paul!!!
We are so sorry we can't make this years ODP.
Family health problems for both Keith Z, and Greg,
are in the mix.
Keith has TWO 1/2 scale projects ready, but will
have to wait until next year, or maybe Rhinebeck.
Will miss seeing our friends at ODP, but our
thoughts will be in Ohio.
Augie

P.S. Good job on the gate

Well, it looks like my buddy and I ARE going to be there ! Unfortunately no large airplanes, we are just going to drive over Friday, hopefully hang out that evening , and Saturday. We are gonna stick a couple small WW1 birds (Great Planes 40 inch electrics) in the Corolla, and try to sneak in some flights between the big MULCHING planes ! I don't want strained through any of Billy's wings like that little Fokker. hahahah

There is just no way I am going to miss seeing a half scale in action !

I am just tired of seeing so many great pictures, and hearing the funny stories ONLINE ! I have to meet some of you guys after posting on the same threads with you all these years...
So keep an eye out for the ...OHIO DAWN PATROL or BUST... banners ! hahahahah

We are stoked up !

My friend (Bill) will be getting off work at 7am in the morning, I will probably driving while he gets some sleep. Both of our wives are glad we are bringing a small car as we are on orders not to buy anything airplane related and then haul it home ! hahahahahhaha

I have a 40 sized scratch built DR1 I might TRY to squeeze in the car as well, its gonna be tight..

Hey Steve,
Lets see if we can talk Jim into teaching us how to cover with SIG coverall on this plane and then we can fly it!
Do you know if the engine is plumbed to run?....Love to hear what that exhaust sounds like!
