TUCSON DAK MALL DEMO 2013
Wow....
DAK made our 4th annual offsite trip to Tucson and boy are we exhausted. For the second year we have occupied the Foothills Mall and show the crowds and passers by what we do and why it is so cool. We offered rental tanks to the kids who showed up and the action began at 10am and did not quit until 5pm. At $1 dollar per rental we made $100 dollars with 7 tanks (and a few others here and there) and managed to not totally shred our gear..... almost. My Panther "Cuckoo" suffered elevation and traverse failure but kids will be kids.
Props go to:
John Gibson our event organizer and MC.
Aimee Ousley who was a ruthlessly efficient time keeper and kept the rentals in order.
Craig Thompson who helped haul the material to and fro.
Craig and Scott Miller who lent out their only running tank and were thoughtful instructors all day long.
All the DAK Minions went above and beyond to make this event run and the 15 of us that made the trip deserve many thanks!!

I'm 28 and in relatively good health, and the sight of a 3 year old wielding a Spektrum transmitter makes my heart seize up!... :P
Great idea guys & I like what you're doing. We at Can-Am are exploring similar functions.

The key to the event is the insurance for the day. The mall we dealt with gave us the tables and chairs free as long as the policy was in place. All venues will differ.
The kids were kept busy while some parents shopped. Some people came back later in the day with more friends/ family to try the event.
On a side note several groups of special needs kids also got a chance to run the vehicles and the parents/ caregivers commented the great way it let them interact. One mom said her son had never focused on anything so seriously or carefully before. Who knew DAK was a community service.

Thats really great about the special needs kids. Sometimes all they need is just the right thing to do to get them really involved. Glad to hear the story about the mom talking about her child. May just have changed their life.

Sounds like a fun time for all.
There is not much in this world that's more fun than showing a kid a new toy.
WOW! She has sure grown a lot from when we came down in Feb.
