RE: Jets Over Kentucky 2013
Good to hear, I know it sucked for you but spotting for you and seeing it climb out from about 5 feet and go around on one turbine with a crosswind makes me feel a lot better!being a f-14 owner myself. All I can say is "this guys got skillzzzz"

Thanks again to one and all for the support and having to fly with an inflight emergency aircraft on 5 of my 10 flights over the week... Last flight Sunday was normal and may have found the problem will do some more test flights and let everyone know for sure... O and thanks so much for the "top aviation geek award"

Fender, I agree completely. I was on the flight line during two of Jim's engine out flights and he did a terrific job of staying in the moment and getting that big F-14 home safely.

Jim you did a great job with that plane. Installing turbines, moving the pivot point on the elevators and cutting open the new wings to make them airworthy and then having it all work great is a real accomplishment. Well done!!
I hope others will do the same mods to their F14s. You also flew it pretty hard even with wings back!

Got a txt from a buddy who is there, the big FEJ Hawk was being flown by Ali when the tail fluttered, parts blew off and down she came. He was not pushing the aircraft hard.

For you, Dubd and Disco wings. There was NO flutter, the spar broke, they came off and it went in. I helped pick up all the pieces and then watched as they went through every single piece we found and immediately came out with the findings. The Fly Eagle haters and nay sayers need to enjoy our hobby and lets try and help anyone we can. Nuff about that, a special thanks goes out to Lewis and Dorothy Patton, Carl Smith and all others who made this a one of a kind show. Also, a very special thanks to all the sponsors who donated time, money and great products to be auctioned off as well as raffled. Oh and Travis, Mason was so excited to take his first private plane ride - what a thrill for him and I - thank you! Boomerang Jets - thank you for the Elan (which I was lucky enough to win!) and Fly Eagle for the Hawk. Hope to see all again next year.

Richard, please keep me out of this. I do not care what happened with the Hawk as it doesn't change my mind on FEJ's lack of customer service. I'm not a "hater", I am a dissatisfied former customer. Anyone who has gone through the ordeal that I experienced with Ken and Johnny at FEJ would also be dissatisfied. I bought from FEJ against better judgement. That was my fault. I will never buy anything from FEJ again, so there is no need for me to continue with this topic.

Hi All,
Back in California now. This is the best run jet rally I had attended in the USA so far. Can't imagine the works that Lewis and his team had to go through to make all 197+ pilots happy together. Luckily we can all sort of getting along great at KY Jets.
Look forward to be here again.
I have a lot of photos just uploaded in my facebook

Well, 12 hours behind schedule and three new trailer tires later, I finally made it home from my first KY Jets!
What great event! I want to thank Lewis and CREW for all their hard work and for a very well organized rally. Everything was just about perfect, fix the weather (no rain and no heat) next year; and it will be perfect!
I also want to personally thank everyone who supported Dreamworks Mobile and kept me busy for much of the week! I received many compliments and thanks from some very appreciative pilots, and it's your support that allows us to attend the events and provide the on-site support. I can't thank you enough!! I'd also like to give a shout out to Bob-O and Louie Klenke for "manning the store" while I stepped out to help customers or run errands, thanks guys!! And thanks Ali for helping out with the new Shockwave; and a HUGE thank you to Barry for the AWESOME deal and support from day one!!
Thanks again all, I look forward to next year already!

Lewis,
Thank you for hosting such a great event. I don't know how you do it. I guess after a career of teaching and managing kids in school, this is not much different, just bigger kids !!! It's really great to get everyone together at one place and time to have such a fun time enjoying the hobby we all love. Without a doubt the greatest group of people I have ever been associated with, bar none. Ten days of non-stop fun sure makes it worth the trip !!. Thanks again to you and Dorthy and the entire crew up there that made this possible. A special thanks to the Airport Manager and the Lebanon/Springfield powers at be to allow us such a great venue. And as you said, without the sponsors, it would not be possible. A very special thanks to all the event sponsors for their support.
See you all again next year, hopefully sooner !!!

Lewis,
This was my first JOK and I just wanted to say that you organized an incredible event, and I mean INCREDIBLE!!! You and your crew are first rate, organized, helpful to every extent, it was great to see all the pilots and crews that were willing to help their neighbors, sharing tent space and keeping everyone flying. BTW, your facility is off the hook!! I would also like to give your wife Dorothy a special thank you, for letting you take all the time and up front money that is needed to make this great event happen. Even the towns cafés and restaurants stayed open late to accommodate the late flying pilots. (Flying until 9:30)
I also wanted to say, I saw some of the best pilots, flying some of the most incredible jets and the support crews taking care of business keeping them in the air. It was also great to meet so many RCU guys in person and putting faces with call signs.
Your Sponsors really stepped up with donations and prizes for the banquet. I’m sure with such a turnout, you will be getting more Sponsors for next year. For those of you that didn’t make the event, I would STRONGLY encourage you to contact RC Ken and purchase the picture and video DVD’s he is making. There were everyday flyers brought, but there were way more HOLY CRAP WOW jets that makes these DVD’s worth buying.
Lewis, You can take a deep breath now, kick back, reflect on the event, think about building your new Hawk and most importantly, START PLANNING FOR NEXT YEAR!! I’m sure you will exceed the 225+ pilot mark.

I asked that same question to the Tomahawk Rep which had the same jet and scheme, He said it was a turbine/bell mouth distance thing. The Rep had the same setup and his was not that loud, I forget his name.
